This is the most amazing and breath-taking view. It is absolutely beautiful. Can be very crowded and unpleasant on the ride up (Packed like sardines) but worth it, without question. The shops and the restaurant at the top are tourist traps (As you would expect) Amazing! more

Even though it was crowded, because of the handicapped free day, it was breaktaking view. I loved ever minute of it, the air is so clean at 3000 meters up. It was a world away from what I was used to, and since it was July, the sky was as clear as could be. Still lots of snow on the... more

I headed up to the Zugspitze solo on Friday to explore & get some good snowboarding in. It was phenomenal. When my girlfriend came with me on Saturday, she didn't even snowboard. She just hung out. How can I begin to describe the experience of the Zugspitze? When I took video clips at the summit, I used quotes from the movie "Contact"... "no words.. " "they should have sent a poet". You don't find this view on the East coast of the States!! The train to get to the summit of the mountain is very easy... more

My first visit to Zugspitze's summit was as a 21-year old Airman, stationed in Bavaria. Having climbed in Oregon's Cascades, I was eager for the Bavarian Alps.
