It's a several years since I last visited Marrakech. During my first visit I was advised by our Hotel and holiday Rep' to hire an official guide if visiting Jemma el Fna and the souks. They will take you to all the places that you want to visit and will fend off any thing or any body that you do... more

OK, how can anyone say that this square is ‘definitely worth not seeing’? I mean if you go to Marrakech and do not go to the Jemaa El Fna then I’m telling you, you have so missed out. Course you might not like everything…but everything is not there for it to be liked. I loved the place. Go for the... more

There is no doubt that this is a must see, especially at dusk and as the square shifts identities into the early and late evening. What has already been stated with other reviews is all true. The only problem I encountered and by far the biggest was that I found Jemaa el Fna to be 'infested' with pick pockets. Came... more

The Jemaa el Fna was my least favourite thing about our time in Marrakech. It seems nothing more than a way for the locals to intimidate the tourists. If I dared to spare more than a fleeting glance at either the snake charmers, the dancers, the water carriers, etc. then they would be demanding money (and a LOT of it)... more

Big, paved, open-area surrounded by restaurants and shops; A completely unique experience, not to be missed if in Marrakesh! Here you will find snake-charmers, drummers, monkey-handlers, henna-ladies and OJ carts by day. All of the above plus food stalls, freaks, more musicians, cooking smoke & beggars by night. Much busier at night than by day. It starts getting busier around... more

Everyone raves about the Jemaa el Fna however i didn't really think it was all that special. The food stores at night were ok, the nicest food i had was at a store that only sold lamb and was very popular with the locals, it was about 30dirham for a lamb sandwich and just 1dirham for mint tea, everywhere else... more

When I Visted Morroco I Went For Five Days And I Personaly Thought It Was Amazing But The Thing That Really Made Marrakech That Speacial Place For Me Was The Jama El Fna It Had A Wide Range Of Shops Selling Lots Of Different Things From Hanbags && Clothing To Morrocan House Decorations. It Was Also What My Dad Called... more

One night, after dinner at one of the stalls, I walked around the square until I was drawn in by one of the musical gatherings -- electric guitar and three or four drummers performing gnawa music. When the music stopped, it was clear that a financial contribution was expected from me, the only obvious foreigner in the crowd. I knew... more

We spent four days in Marrakech recently and every day we went to the square and loved it. Day and night are completely different. We found no hassles and were not groped. We felt completely safe in the city. We did dress modestly - long sleves and long trousers. Maybe that helped, but everyone else is covered up and it... more

Once upon a time a group of 3 western women entered the square attracted by the music, bright lights and throngs of people. Almost immediately, having tried to edge into a crowd to see what was happening (storytelling), one was groped. The tall, slim, blonde and blue-eyed youngest? No! The squat dark haired fat-bottomed one! They like the ones with... more
