Mandala Wisata Wenara Wana, the Sacred Monkey Forest, is one of Balis major tourist attractions, and hundreds of tourists are bused in from the Southern Beach towns every day, to enjoy the specticle. If you want to make a visit to the monkey forest enjoyable, stay in Ubud, and visit the monkey forest early in the day, before the crowds... more

I'm glad we went to the monkey forest in Ubud - we ended up getting some great pictures with the monkeys on us. We got to see babies too which was neat. We only had 2 'close calls' with the monkeys - first when one grabbed my finger and the banana at the same time, I tried to pull my... more

I am a little bit surprised to see that this is the #1 attraction in Ubud. Yes, it is interesting, yes you can go, yes you will see monkeys all around, yes you should be careful and follow closely the written advices. However, I believe that trekking into the local rice paddies, checking on the local culture, wood carving, arts,... more

The forest is beautiful and is a protected area for many families of monkeys to live in without any threat to them. We climbed to the top of a tree house to see a fantastic view of te whole area. We then walked up to see all the monkeys chasing each other and fighting outside a little temple. It is... more

The Monkey forest, while a bit touristy is a fun excursion. Located in a dense jungle with banyan trees, streams and rain forest, monkeys are running wild. Tourists are feeding them bananas by the bushel load but the monkeys are climbing, running and doing their business. Sometimes they may jump on people which is quite alarming but overall a very... more

Yes, there are monkeys (and yes, they can be a real pain in the rear!), but there's a lot more here than the name might imply. Inside the Monkey Forest are plenty of paths for walking in the cool shade of the canopy and there are several temples and a sacred spring. Make sure you take some time and explore... more

All I have to say is that I wish I could sit there everyday and interact with the monkeys. We were able to go twice while in Ubud. We are going back to bali next month I can not wait. They are amazingly smart so just keep your stuff in your pockets. They steal things like hats and won't give... more

We hired a taxi for the day to see the Volcano, rice terraces and finally the Monkey Forest. If you have read any of our other reviews about Bali, then you might be surprised that we actually enjoyed this! For starters, in Ubud we DID NOT get pestered by the locals. There was someone selling cheap bananas to feed the... more
