We went out with the early-morning plane on July 6th 2008 and had a unique experience on Dry Tortugas, shared with a few campers and being one of the first persons on the small beach, we could see the tracks of small turtles. After around two hours on the Island we were picked up again, just after the ferry had... more

We took the first flight out to the island and I wouldn't recommend it any other way. The whole time we were snorkeling, there was a grand total of 3 people in the water. The water was a little cloudy that day, so it was a little disappointing in the snorkeling department, but the plane ride made up for it.... more

Dry Tortugas is a fascinating island, and the seaplane is an efficient way to get there, with beautiful views along the way. I want to warn people though that the pilot we flew with wasn't the nicest guy around -- when we said we needed a little more time to get ready, he threw a fit and berated us. It... more

This was a truly amazing experience that we would highly recommend. We got the early morning flight from Key West airport (around 8am I think). It meant getting up early but it was well worth it. We were given our snorkelling equipment and drinks and a cooler, packed it all into the plane and we were off! One of the... more

If you don't do this, lie and say you did! This should be the number one thing to do in Key West! It saves a great deal of time to fly vs. furry and the view is great. We saw sunken ships and sea turtles. Snorkeling was fun and there is time on the beach. The only thing that I... more

We chose the 8AM flight to Fort Jefferson from Key West. This was the first flight of the day. When we got to the fort, we had the entire island to ourselves. It was serene, quiet, and the views from the top were the best. Our pilot was friendly, none of the rudeness I've read about. Expensive, but an experience... more

We had an afternoon trip to the Dry Tortugas during the Christmas Holidays. It was a excellent afternoon and highly recommended. We have been to Key West a couple of times and my husband has always been fascinated by the dry tortugas and wanted to go, but I just couldn't face the boat journey - I don't travel well!. So... more

This December, while visiting the island, my mother and I decided to take the plane to the Dry Tortugas. While the snorkling was not the best that day (a bit murky and rough), the plane ride there and back was a blast. Although not a fan of planes- especially small ones, this was the most fun I have ever had... more

The best way to get to Fort Jefferson/ Dry Tortugas, by far!! This was the most awesome experience. I have been to Dry Tortugas by Ferry/Fast Cat too. We left at 8 am and were back at 11:45. We got to the islan a few hours before the boat arrived and had the place just about to our sleves. We... more

What can I say but WOW! We were visiting Key West for the first time and decided that we would make the trip to the Dry Tortugas as one of our must do's. I have to say that it was the highlight of our trip. The plane route is definitely more expensive than the boat trips out. However the flight... more
