I did the Confino tour with my two teenagers last Sunday. We all loved it. The building itself is like a time machine. The second you walk into the dimly lit hall you are transported back to another time. The young woman who portrayed Victoria Confino was brilliant. Bright, funny and completely convincing, her portrayal was magical. The hour went... more

We visited the Lower East Side Tenement Museum in June of 2008, on a Sunday afternoon during a major heat wave, with temps in the upper 90s. Having spent the morning at Ellis Island, we were eager to see what New York life may have been like for new arrivals to America, but we were also dreading the heat, the... more

I booked a visit for our family for last August. My wife's mother died a couple of weeks before we were due to go, so we had to cancel our New York visit. All of the other organisations we had booked with (American Airlines, Ticketmaster...) refunded any money paid; the Lower East Side Tenement Musueum was the only one that... more

I booked this tour, in advance, for a weekend break I had recently with my teenage daughter. Really glad I booked online, in advance from UK because all tickets had sold out on the day we visited. I chose the interactive Confino tour. This involved a group of us (15) role playing being newly arrived immigrants asking questions about the... more

I went here with my family and am I ever glad I did. My girls (12 & 8) were shocked and surprised by how good they actually have it. What an eye opener. We did not buy our tickets in advance as we should have. When we arrived we did not have a choice as to what tour we went... more

What a nice change from the more well known and bigger museums. The Tenement Museum was interesting, well run and really let you 'step into' the past. As noted by others, it helps to get your tickets in advance. I showed up alone and had to wait one hour before I could get on a tour. The good thing is... more

Admission is 17 dollars for one adult... yikes!!! Also, the tour was crowded which I was surprised about since I visited on a cold weekday in March. I guess with all the Europeans taking advantage of the exchange rate, New York doesn't really have an off-season anymore. Anyway, the tour itself was very interesting and provided a good insight into... more

My thirteen year old daughter and I visited the museum on our girl's weekend in New York. She was not really interested in seeing the museums while we were there, but this was an exception. We had booked the Confino Tour, which is an interactive experience, and we both loved it. The actress playing the part of the Confino daughter... more

I visited the Tenement Museum on my most recent visit to New York City and highly recommend it to other travelers. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Several rooms are set up as they would have been in the late 1800's, others are left empty so you can get a sense of the size. The guide gives the backstory on... more
