stuck in Bangkok....Sometimes tourists get "stuck" in Bangkok. Yes, it can be smelly, and dirty, but I live here and I enjoy it. There are a lot of fun things to do while you're here so why not make the best of it.

1. Wat Pho
The home of the original Thai massage school and a magnificent reclining Buddha
2. The Grand Palace
A National Treasure. Do not listen to people outside go into the palace gates and buy your ticket at the official counter. Yes, it's almost always open in the morning hours.
3. Suan Lum - The Lumpini Night Bazaar
For souvenir shopping 7 nights a week it beats Silom's street market hands down. There is less air pollution, a number of restaurants and a terrific beer garden with Thai food stalls. It's inexpensive and fun. MRT: Lumpini
Anyone I have ever suggested this place to has enjoyed it.
Totally insane, but worth seeing. Get there earlier in the day it's cooler.
If you can get here for the vegetarian festival in October or Chinese New Year it's a blast. This is a great place to by fabric if you are planning to have clothes made.
7. Take a boat ride
Take a boat ride (with public transportation) on the Chao Phraya River. It's a lot of fun.
8. Go Shopping or See a Movie
Most of the movies are original soundtrack with Thai subtitles. Paragon, Discovery Center, MBK etc. all have decent cinemas.
