Five-Year Anniversary in the Rockies

Ask this member a question. Rundle's_Parents Second time visiting the Rockies. This time we skipped Jasper and Edmonton, places we'd visited on our honeymoon. Once is enough on those.

Returning to the site of our honeymoon, we spent two weeks in the Rockies (both Canada and Montana) to celebrate our five-year anniversary. We flew into Calgary, stayed two nights in Waterton Lakes, AB, one night near St. Mary, Montana, one night in Apgar, Montana, one night in Kimberley, BC, five nights in Lake Louise, AB, two nights in Banff, AB, and then a final night in Calgary, AB before flying out of Calgary. A great trip!
We started our trip in Waterton Lakes. Read our review!
A hike in Waterton Lakes that is short but strenuous. The view is WELL worth the effort!
3. Tuscana Ristorante
A fabulous little Italian place in Waterton Lakes.
4. Pat's Gas Station
A gas station/general store/bike rental location in Waterton Lakes. Be sure to rent a surrey to have a fun stroll around town. You look like an idiot on it, but it's a load of fun!
Great pie!!!!
We'd skip this place next time. Read our review.
9. West Glacier Restaurant
A trip back in time; dining how it used to be. This diner has good, hot food served up with a smile. A great place for lunch.
10. Spruce Park Cafe in Coram, Montana
This place may look like a bit of a dump (it's at the end of a gas station) but the homemade pies are AMAZING! The best my husband and I have ever have! Be sure to stop!
Ave price: $91
Don't go to Kimberley in the summer!!! BORING!!!
14. Baker Creek Chalets
16. Bridal Veil Falls Trail at Bow Lake
A great hike that starts from the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge and takes you along Bow Lake to Bridal Veil Falls. Very relaxing!
17. Num-Ti-Jah Lodge dining room
The Num-Ti-Jah Lodge serves a small but hearty buffet lunch. The best part of the meal is the ambience -- the rustic, old hunting lodge is like no other place.
18. Peyto Lake
A gorgeous lake in the Canadian Rockies located on the Icefields Parkway about a half-hour north of Lake Louise. The color is remarkable; my husband and I think it's the best-colored lake in the Rockies. We missed stopping at Peyto during our honeymoon -- don't make our mistake!
The hike from the Chateau Lake Louise to the Lake Agnes Teahouse is invigorating. The Teahouse is a great place to get sandwiches on homemade bread, which will give you some energy to hike up the 9 switchbacks to the top of the Big Beehive (what a view!). Stop at the Teahouse for some dessert on your way back down.
22. Banff Aspen Lodge
Ave price: $168
Don't stay here. Read our review.
"If you haven't been to Bumper's, you haven't been to Banff." Unlimited salad bar with all meals.
