My husband and I were fortunate enough to spend part of our honeymoon at the Castello di Vicarello in October this year. It is a very very special place in a pretty undiscovered part of Tuscany. This is somewhere to go if you want to disappear for a week and just enjoy the silence, the nature and stunning views. The... more

We don't do reviews. Never have done and hopefully won't need to do so again. Sadly, the '08 Vicarrelo experience was so awful - in all respects - that we have been forced to break the habit of a lifetime. What motivates us is to save fellow travellers from falling into the same seductive trap as we did and wasting... more

I am one of those people that value trip advisor's reviews very much but have never actually posted a review. I have never felt the need as I have generally agreed with the overall reviews for my particular destination, or have not felt particularly strongly about a destination/hotel either way to spend the time to write one - until now.... more

We were much seduced by the article written in the New York Times and consequently published in the Australian Financial Review Magazine ( 2005) on the Castello di Vicarello. Having been to Italy and Tuscany many times, we thought a genuine Tuscan experience in a " home" kind of setting might be fun. The experience we had, was nothing like... more

We wanted to spoil ourselves for our honeymoon so booked in here for four nights. Whilst the hotel was much more isolated than we thought, this didn't spoil our enjoyment as the grounds and pool are quite simply stunning. The welcome was warm, but not overwhelming and much better from the staff than the owners. The homegrown tomatoes on arrival... more

Yet another summer and a further wonderful experience at Vicarello . Just cannot imagine how or why a bad review has been written on Vicarello . The food is simply the best and also the most simple home cooking you can possibly find . All ingredients from the garden . Few suites and most thoughtful management and kind staff .... more

A litany of disaster and disapointment.... we chose the Chiesina suite because it offered 2 bedrooms and this was made clear at the time of booking with a price quoted of e800+ per night. We get there to find that it isnt a 2 bedroom suite - rather a one bedroom suite with a second bedroom located in the basement... more

How sad it is to read such reviews… As frequent travelers ourselves, we highly value comments from guests we meet, who stay with us but also that share their comments on this website, which is meant to be a travel tool for all. We do not deny that our individual taste may be different: we also may encounter some very...

I have enjoyed 2 wonderful restful stays in 2005 and 2006. This amazing, intimate and charming historic hotel is gorgeous, with amazing views, fragrant gardens ,elegant surroundings and super comfortable, spacious rooms. The swimming pools are divine and very private.... perfect for soaking up the Tuscan sun and getting away from the over crowded, touristy parts of Tuscany. Food is... more

The Castello di Vicarello is an absolutely gorgeous oasis. We just returned from 3 nights at the Castello having thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Castello has essentially 5 rooms. Three are in the "main house" part of the property. One, Sassi, is on it's own, and the last is a small house with three floors total that can accomodate a... more

We stayed at the hotel for 8 days in August with our 9 month old. First the good points - suites are all beautiful, a blend of asian and european style - pools are both fantastic - ozone treated with great views - overall property is kept in excellent order - ther staff are unfailingly polite and courteous Things you... more
