I would very much like to recommend the Bahai Principe Cayacoa. I can’t. When we were there during the last week of August, we missed the hurricanes. However, towards the end of the week, we had a typical tropical mid day storm. Afterwards the runoff sewage from the town of Santa Barbara, across the bay, washed up onto the hotel... more

Having stayed at Bahia Principe Akumal and Punta Cana, our family thought Cayacoa would be a similarly gratifying Bahia Principe vacation but we were disappointed and do not feel that the 5 star rating nor the Bahia Principe name are justified at this hotel. Our 1st room had leaking a/c and after they tried unsuccessfully to fix it over 3... more

Our family has vacationed at many all-inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean and Mexico, including other resorts belonging to the Bahia Principe chain. Like many others, we use Tripadvisor to learn about the resort prior to booking, and have, on balance, found the information contained in the reviews to be fairly accurate and useful. As others have said about this resort,... more

Just returned from two week holiday with family party. My husband and I, and a 16 and 20 year old. The First Choice flight had extra leg room and was as comfortable as economy long haul can be. Hotel is an hour away from Samana Airport. Our rooms were beautiful- on the top floor over looking the marina and the... more

Having recently returned from our holiday to the Dominican Republic I thought I’d post a short review of my stay. It was our first time to the Dominican Republic and when browsing holiday brochures, Samana stood out above the rest as it was a quiet and unspoiled part of the country, just what we were looking for. The Samana area... more

Returned last week from a wonderful holiday in the Dominican Republic at the Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa. It was a wonderful experience. We booked it with First Choice Holidays, whose staff were brilliant and gave excellent service, no delays on our flights. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The staff were efficient and very friendly. Food was very, very, good and... more

Just got back Monday, July 28th from a one week stay at the Cayacoa. Having stayed at the El Portillo twice once in December of 2006 and the second time in April of 2007 I will try sharing with you my take on each resort being as brief as possible. If a beach is very important to you for taking... more

I spent a week in the Samana area; two nites at the Caycoa and the rest at the El Portillo. The Cayocoa is a lovely new hotel perched on a hillside within walking distance of the town of Samana. I booked a junior suite (rather than just the hotel room) and I was given a beautiful oceanview room on the... more

(14~24th July - 2 Adults + 2 Children 13/15) An interesting trip from the Airport to the hotel, very bumpy roads and a welcome to the lack traffic rules, but that's part of the charm! Arrived at the hotel absolutely exhausted after a delay from Gatwick (nice enough flight, surpising legroom for cattle-class, cheerful flight attendants). After about 5 tries... more

Stayed at Cayacoa from 10/07-24/07 and travelled with First choice but through an independent agent therefore paying substantially less than the brochure price. Had a Junior suite on the 3rd floor of the main block which was very nice. Two double beds, dressing area, bathroom living area, tv, fridge which is restocked with beer and soft drinks, coffee maker and... more
