The first impression was very poor as the car park is at the rear of the hotel. Clearly this will be the last area to be refurbished. The reception staff were friendly & helpful. Our room (the Highland room) was nicely decorated & very clean. It was a good size for this type of pub / hotel. The bathroom was... more

Too pricey. Rude male staff, food not up to much. i really do not recommend this place. For some reason they do not want anyone apart from tourists. So generally a r[p off place more

Really enjoyed one night above the pub, the room was fantastic and the breakfast was amazing, with a choice of sausage and how your egg is cooked. It was only £40 for B&B for two, but I am aware that it is a lot more expensive now! more

We were slightly apprehensive about returning after a pretty bad experience a couple of years ago but as all other rooms in the vicinity were booked and reading some good reviews we decided to give it another go. The place is transformed. Downstairs there is a funky wine shop with superb selection of interesting wines and we managed ot join... more

It is very confusing reading such conflicting reviews, ranging from 'little gem' to 'find somewhere else to stay'! However, looking at the dates of these reviews and bearing in mind that the new management took over in August 2006, it is evident that there has been much improvement recently with this 16th century inn. The new manager admits there are... more

The male receptionist wasn't the friendliest soul, but the bedroom (number 4) was large enough. Sadly the tv didn't receive teletext, and only received the five basic channels. Only when in the room did I read that dogs are allowed, but only in room 4, and there is a ten pound charge for this facility - cheaper to stick Pongo... more

This country Inn is one of the best I have visited in the area, recently under new management the changes really show. There is a wine shop on premises with fantastic wines at low prices and wine tasting!!! The room we stayed in was lovely, with fantastic views over the countryside behind, the food in the restaurant - typically british,... more

If you are looking for somewhere uniquely British with great beer and delicious food and fantastic staff, lots of well heels locals in the bar, the most remarkable Wine list as in a shop, Yes a shop. You can't beat the White Hart Inn. The restaurant staff seemed pretty clued up on all the wines, in fact they were doing... more

We booked this hotel at the very last minute and the only rooms left were the rambler rooms on the top floor of the pub. The double was £60 a night but shared a bathroom with another 2 rooms. This was nowhere near as difficult as I had expected as the shared bathroom was large and clean. It was very... more
