Stayed at the Merchant from Friday the 3rd of October until Sunday the 5th with my wife and Daughter. This is a fantastic and outstanding hotel and in my honest opinion worth every penny for a luxurious hotel. The rooms are decorated with antique furniture and are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are huge with a large antique bath along with... more

We have just spent four suberbly comfortable nights at The Merchant. We booked five rooms for family members attending a wedding and were delighted with our choice, especially getting feedback from others who were staying elsewhere. The rooms did vary. We were delighted to be upgraded to a small suite on the fifth floor which left absolutely nothing to be... more

The Merchant is projected as one of the top hotels in Belfast. Having stayed at The Europa and having enjoyed the 5 star service and hospitality there, we were a little disappointed at our first experience of the Merchant. My room was very beautifully decorated but on closer inspection was a little dirty, dust where there should not be dust,... more

The Merchant Hotel is an example of how sumptuous and pleasurable hotel accommodation can be. (Almost) everything was first-rate. Of particular note was the very attentive service and lavish dining experience in the Great Hall (the Early Bird is actually very good value and the breakfast was also superb, although this was not included in our room rate and was... more

I recently had the joy of dining at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast. I haev eaten in some fine establishments around the world but this one was easily the best. The waiting staff were extremely attentive without being to in your face and the food was todie for. We tried the fixed meal at £75 per head (I know its... more

Stayed in Belfast 1 night. Terrific response from hotel regarding all questions and needs. Hotel is not close to action scene in Belfast. Needed a taxi. Dinner and Breakfast in dining room was included in weekday price of hotel. Overall value was good. You will enjoy your stay here! Visited from Chicago. more

This hotel was just wonderful. It covered everything. It had lots of character compared to most hotels. We loved the fact that the hotel check-in was to the side of the hotel and it was not the usual lobby. It just was an example of the character and charm of this place. The staff were wonderful and so mannerly. We... more

We travel to Belfast regularly and have stayed in most of the main hotels. We were able to book several months ahead on this trip and so we got a room here for £160 per night. The Merchant has received a lot of publicity and comes across as an amazing luxurious hotel. I've stayed in a lot of first rate... more

What a disappointment! From tacky plastic coasters in the bar to bad services everywhere, this was so not the experience we had been expecting. The Merchant is billed as Belfast's leading 5 star hotel, while the reality could not be farther from the truth. The staff are cold and abrupt and the facilities are tacky, bordering on ridiculous, with cheap... more

My husband and I spent a weekend in the hotel, from Friday check-in unitl Sunday 12pm check out. When we arrived on Friday shortly before 3pm to check in, our room was not ready so we had to go into town and while away some time shopping! This was our second time in the hotel and on the first occasion... more
