The images on the guest houses website make this look like a well maintained comfortable place to stay but this is not the case. Our bed had so many springs poking through the only way we could sleep on it was to request a stack of blankets to lay underneath, when we told the proprietor she was not interested and... more

Booking here was the biggest mistake do not book it if you can’t see it first. This place looks nice on the website. The photos show a different story from what you find when you get there. They take their money from your credit card weeks before we even left for holiday and of course there is no cancellation refund.... more

Despite some of the adverse reviews on Trip Advisor, we saw the Clifden Guesthouse recommended in the Rough Guide and so decided to book - and I have to say we were not disappointed. It is a simple guest house, not a hotel with 5* facilities, but it is clean, quiet and friendly and they serve a generous breakfast. It... more

my daughter and I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Dublin. We had booked our lodging prior to arrival, after having read about the Clifden Guest House in Rick Steve's book Ireland, and other sources. We had a good feeling from the beginning, and were not disappointed in any way. It was comfortable, clean, safe, homey, the breakfast room... more

I've stayed here before and it was good value for money with a central location. However, on returning this time I was very disappointed. The room was really basic and although on the 4th floor we could still hear every car that went past and anyone in the other rooms on our floor. The shower was a trickle of water... more

I booked a 3 night stay for this coming Sept 28. Well my aunt is very ill and on life support so my cousin isn't going and neither are the rest of us. They will not refund my total credit to my credit card and I cancelled 3 weeks in advance. Someone really needs to do something about these people... more

We had low expectations when we booked this guest house, but it was even worse. The bathroom was disgusting. The sheets looked like they were at least 20 years old and had been washed millions of times. Worn, yellowed paint on the walls. And on top of that, not a great area of town. Only if you're desperate.... more

We stayed at the Clifden Guesthouse in June, admittedly a busy time in Dublin, but found the bed and breakfast to be quite pricey considering its room quality and location. Our room, though clean and fairly spacious, was not much to speak of. The decor was modest, the TV broken, and the pillows flat. The primary problem, however, lie in... more
