I cannot recognise the Villa Il Poggiale from the negative reviews on this site. We stayed there in 2005 with our then-one year old. We had the room that is described by a previous reviewer as "the dungeon" and then we moved to a different room. The "dungeon" was obviously not the best room, but it was perfectly comfortable and... more
We have to agree with the previous reviews that described the experience as disappointing or average, and we find the management response to those reviews to be very indicative of our experience also. There is such pride in the villa that anything less than similar acceptance, adoration, enthusiasm and even gratitude on the part of the guest for the accommodation... more
Dear Sirs, I'm not sure how to ask these unsatisfied guests for forgiveness. We have taken note of all comments and we are now endeavouring to address this critisms. Even if these observations are not pleasant and leave us wounded they also help us to improve our customers service. Sincerely yours, Villa Il Poggiale
My sister and I stayed at Il Poggiale for 2 nights last week and we liked the hotel very much. The Villa has been decorated in a chic, comfortable manner, there are books available to read, so you don't need to take any yourself, there are wonderful views from the front garden, fresh flowers in the communual rooms. The breakfast... more
We conducted a 5 day photography workshop at the Villa and found the staff to be most accommodating. From morning to night they looked after us and our 20 delegates. What an amazing view and a beautiful historical building. All the rooms were extremely comfortable and clean. Every meal we ate was delicious. The small town nearby offered numerous restaurants... more
Villa il Poggiale did not live up to our expectations. On the positive side of the ledger, it has a very good location to visit parts of Chianti and Florence if staying out of the city is your desire. Also the views from the property are spectacular. On the negative side, service levels leave something to be desired. It took... more
Dear Sirs, This is the first time we received this kind of comment and we are all terrebly sorry and mortified. The most common quotation in our guestbook is about how efficient, kind, helpful and charming our staff is. I think that the misunderstanding with this guest is that he expected a more "classic" service, like in a luxury hotel....
After reading the reviews, it seems mine will be the only one that is disappointing, but will explain why. Last year we went to Italy for our honeymoon, so wanted the idyllic country location, views, romance, charming villages etc.. We planned 5 nights at Il Poggiale. Before arriving at Il Poggiale, we stayed at Tenuta di Canonica in Todi, Umbria... more
Dear Sirs, We are very sorry that a guest was so disappointed during his stay at Villa Il Poggiale. The Villa is in the contryside, near a small town and a country road, not in the heart of the countryside but perfectly located so that you can easily visit Florence, Siena and all the other art town of Tuscany: this...
Our stay at Il Poggiale was the best part of our Italian tour - our private villa was lovely, reasonable and had stunning views of San Casciano. The staff were fluent in English and very helpful with external reservations and internal accommodations. 5 stars - definite recommend! more
The four of us, my mother, sister, husband and I, wanted a centrally located ,elegant, historic and peaceful place from which to see Tuscany and the Chanti area,. Villa il Poggiale fit our requirements well. The rooms were historic, roomy, comfortable , while elegant. The hosts were helpful and congenial. The breaklfasts were delicious, especially the homemade pastry items. We were close to... more
After reading all the reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to stay at the Villa during our recent visit to Tuscany. Undoubtedly a unique property, with a historc touch, a relaxed ambience and a beautiful setting. However I would still give it an 'above average' rating rather than 'excellent' because : - very small breakfast room (expect waiting upto 15-30 mins).... more
