This is a generous 2/5 based on location and not much else. The expectations from a five star "institution" hotel is something special but the Willard was a real let down. The location is great, the lobby areas look fantastic but it appears that the hotel is trading on image and not service. Check in was functional without being particulalry... more

What can you say about the Willard? The sense of history and luxury that are had here is almost beyond comparison. The rooms are large and well appointed. It is centrally located for just about anything that you’d want to see and do in DC. The hotel has been around since before the civil war and has hosted some key... more

My second stay at the Willard was just as perfect as the first.... it can be a bit expensive, so if you are paying for it yourself, maybe save it for a "special event". But the rooms are lovely, extremely comfortable beds, very clean, and great staff. I can't wait to return! more

We visited DC for the first time on President's weekend for my husband birthday. Chose Willard hotel based on its location (almost next door to White House and central to everything) and luxurious details. These two things didn't disappoint us at all. As Ambassador members, we were upgraded to a great view room on the fifth floor. The room was... more

What can you say about the Willard? Location, location, location!! You can, and must, walk to and from all that Washington has to offer! One of the BEST locations and hotels in the Mall area!! The History of the Willard tells it’s story! Public areas are elegant and exude the decadence of times past. One of the most storied hotels... more

I have stayed at this hotel once before and I still find it lovely, historical and perfectly located to all for example, the White House, The National Mall etc., We were booked for 5 nights and given a room on the 14th floor. The room was wonderfully appointed but we were literally in the attic with a small round window.... more

The Willard is defined by its history - you can feel it as soon as you step through the front doors. If you tend to prefer contemporary and relaxed (as I usually do!), you may want to look elsewhere. However, it was fun to stay here for a few nights for work. The Willard has a great location within walking... more

Stay away. This place is really a disaster. I am actually surprised by the many positive reviews here on this site. I travel to DC monthly for meetings and decided to stay here. I thought the location was great but first the management and staff could not be more rude. My room was not clean, I found bread crumbs and... more

The Willard is a beautiful hotel near the White House that is rich in history and ambiance. The rooms are spacious with flat panel televisions, work desks, etc. The staff at the Willard is first rate and always there to help you. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with choral groups performing nightly. The only problem I had was... more
