We traveled in Tanzania for a month in July '07 and started our trip at Sayari camp in the northern Serengeti. The only down side to this was that everything was downhill from there in terms of accommodations--we had amazing experiences elsewhere too, but it would be difficult to compete with Sayari! First of all, the setting is beyond words.... more
This place is fantastic and had better food than anywhere else we stayed on out 8-day Safari (three Serena Lodges and one other small camp). I remember some fried vegetable things that were especialy fantastic. The bathrooms are especially impressive given the remote location, but be ready for a quick shower - each person gets on bucket of hot water.... more
Sayari was the highlight of our Tanzania trip - I hadn't heard of it but it was recommended by our tour operator to escape to. Such a beautiful place, fantastic people and delicious food. I couldn't believe the dishes they managed to pull together in such a remote spot, and all super fresh. We were lucky and had a guide... more
My wife and I went to Tanzania on our honeymoon... Our plan was to do the Safari, then clim Kili (we did it ! ;-)) and then crash on a beach in Zanzibar to recover... We spent 3 nights at Sayari at the beginning of our safari... What an incredible experience... I don't know where to start... You arrive there... more
When we decided to go to Tanzania we asked to stay away from the concentrations of tourists. We were looking for the remote and nomadic spirit of Africa. Marc Baker, our safari guide, did a great job organizing our trip. The mix of Ndutu / Moru Kopies/ Piaya proved to be an excellent combo of environments, wildlife and overall experience.... more
