I just stayed at Taybet Zaman on a two day trip to Petra. It's a lovely and unusual place, and was an added bonus to an already terrific excursion. The grounds are very peaceful and well-maintained. The location is about 15 minutes by taxi from the gates of Petra and is NOT in town, but to me that was a... more

My partner and I were traveling in Israel and Jordan in June 2008. We decided to visit Petra and called Taybet Zaman to book a room at the last minute. The hotel arranged for a taxi to meet us at the Aqaba border and drive us to the hotel. The taxi service was then available to us for the rest... more

My husband’s business associates found us this hotel. I had never heard of it, in the same way I had no idea of Jordan. Before being taken to this hotel, we were told that it was an actual village and the story goes that a multimillionaire decided to re-house the local villagers to another place, and then converted the village... more

It's difficult to reconcile the reviews for this hotel: some say the rooms are quality, and others say the rooms are dumps. We stayed here in March 2008 and we had the unfortunate experience of staying in one of the rooms that was a total dump. I can only assume that some rooms are okay, and some are not. The... more

This was booked as part of a 2 day tour to Jordan (Wadi Musa and Petra) from Eilat with Desert Eco Tours. I was a little apprehensive because of some poor reviews here. However, the location was very nice. Reception gave us a map to the room - we needed a navigator, our room was one of the furthest in... more

This is a very unique place to stay. The rooms are cozy and are former bedouin caves. I believe all rooms have single beds only...The restaurant is very nice here, and they have the coolest bar! The grounds and vistas are lovely. This is a nice hotel, but it is not a 5 star hotel. Everything in my room worked... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night during an arranged tour of Petra and some trekking through the Wadi Rum desert. While I agree with the prior reviews that the hotel is a bit rough around the edges, the service from the staff and the hotel itself more than make up for the dated room furnishings. The biggest draw... more

We were looking forward to staying at the Taybet Zaman after a series of Four Seasons, Grand Hyatts and other hotels that look the same in each city around the world. The layout of the hotel is interesting, as a traditional Bedouin village, and the rooms are adequate. Our room was (mostly) clean and fairly comfortable - as long as... more

We had three nights but changed it to 2. The hotel concept is a good idea it being based on a traditional Bedouin village. But no money has been spent on it and in places - particulary the rooms are really decrepit. The view from our room throught he dirty windows was good. But I feel visitors to Petra would... more

The hotel is a lovely concept and could be something really special, but I understand that it was sold by Sofitel a while back and the new owners have clearly not spent a cent on the place. The restaurant was atmospheric and the food good by local standards, but the rooms were disappointing - a lumpy ancient mattress, curtains falling... more
