IMO the Amalfi doesnt come close to justifying the glowing comments on TA. This is basically a Holiday Inn. Half of the rooms overlook an alley / loading dock. The hotel is not more than 6 or 7 flors high and the garbage pick up woke me up daily at 5 am. At 530, when you are just nodding off... more

The best thing about this hotel is the location. After that the place is pretty mediocre at best. The rooms are small. The bathroom is serviceable. There are lots and lots of hotels in this area. I know people seem to rave about this place. Do not believe it, the place is just OK. I think you can do much... more

My husband and I return to the Amalfi Hotel next week for our second stay. We stayed there for the first time last month, and it was wonderful. The rooms were very comfortable and nicely appointed with great amenities - flat screen TV, ipod docking station, cable, comfortable beds, cleanliness, and even a nice spread of current magazines. The staff... more

Let's get one thing straight - this hotel does not compare to a place like the ritz carleton or even sofitel. Five star here means it was excellent for the price. In booking a hotel for a long weekend at the height of chicago tourist season which had to be right downtown - i looked at the James, Hotel Sax,... more

My sister and I found this hotel through reviews right here on TripAdvisor. We could not believe how nice the hotel was and the amenities that were included in the price. Our visit to the beautiful city of Chicago was for leisure and this hotel contributed to a most fabulous weekend. Rooms were VERY clean. Bed comfortable. Huge bathroom with... more

This was my 10th time in Chicago always staying at the "big name" hotels on the Mag mile so I was a little apprehensive about choosing this hotel. (mainly chose it based on cost). My fears were unfounded. I loved this hotel. The breakfast spread on each floor was amazing. I thought it would be a couple of donuts and... more

The included in the price continental breakfast set out on each floor allows a quick start in the morning. The OK sized room with large bathroom and large TV screen was fine. The $400 Sunday and $500 Monday reduced room price coupled with a less than bubbly front (trendy) desk staff precludes an "excellent" rating.[The seemingly high room price may have... more

My husband and I spent our anniversary in Chicago and stayed at the Amalfi Hotel. We had a FABULOUS experience. We loved the views from our room. It was also nice that they had breakfast on every floor so you didn't have to venture far to get a croissant and juice...we would throw on our robes that were provided in... more

It didn't start out well when our town car pulled up to the Amalfi. Our driver jumped out to unload our bags, but the doorman just stood at his post as if he didn't see us. Not exactly a four star welcome. We brought our own bags inside (tiny lobby, nice, modern but not somewhere yoou would want to relax... more

The Amalfi is a fabulous, hip boutique hotel in a happening part of the city. The rooms are chic and extremely comfortable. A wonderful touch is the free continental breakfast that's provided every morning--each floor has its own array of fruit, cereals, pastries, juices, and coffee. My husband and I really liked being able to bring our breakfast back to... more
