The Lodge is some 20km on a dirt road from the main Road from Keetmanshoop to Luederitz. Quite a surprise when you see it first, because you appraoch from the back, cross a ridge and then immediately you are on the parking lot. We stayed at Vogelstrausskluft Lodge on our last leg of our Namibian self-drive tour, and after 19 days of driving and unpacking was getting a bit tired of the whole thing. We stayed at Vogelstrausskluft in May 2008 on a self drive tour of Namibia. We had tried to book into Canyon Lodge, but it was fully booked. Vogelstrausskluft is not actually near the canyon - it is a good 60km bumpy gravel drive north, situated in a gully. But closer than Keetmanshoop I suppose. If you were to self drive... more
