The only good thing about this hotel was that it was in a nice location. You walk outside and you are surrounded by cute coffee shops & restaurants. That was pretty much the only enjoyable thing about it. It advertised free Wi-Fi, but we were only able to get a signal on the 1st floor. Had to sit on bench... more

This hotel is very well located, and we had a generally favorable experience here. Bathrooms are shared but clean. The room was well kept and linens were fresh. Breakfast was fine: standard continental fare, but good pastries & bagels. The carpet in the hallways is pretty old, but no real complaints about the property. We were satisfied, and it's a... more

My husband and I stayed at Hayes Valley Inn in July 2007. The hotel is more of a European bed & breakfast, but with great value. Sure, you need to share bathroom with the other guests, but they were well maintained. There is a sink in evey room, so you won't need to brush your teeths outside yoour room. The... more

Situated in a great neighbourhood that we know well, my partner and I were looking forward to being close to our old haunts. However, although I can recommend the neighbourhood I cannot recommend the Hayes Valley Inn. When I phoned to book the male staff member I spoke to was rather abrupt so I already had my concerns. Once there... more

When we originally booked this hotel I figured that the low price would dictate the type of place. I was completely wrong. The Inn is located in a very charming area with great shops and places to eat. Upon arriving we had accidentally booked a room with twin beds, but the manager was quick to resolve the matter and put... more

This is a great little place in a very good location. The rooms are small but comfortable and exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a European style. I was concerned at the prosepct of sharing a bathroom, but it was just a few paces down the hall, was never occupied when I needed to use it,... more

Hayes Valley is a trendy neighborhood in San Francisco with lots of boutique shops and restaurants. Another major benefit of this area is its relatively easy access to the MUNI and BART. The Hayes Valley Inn is centrally located among all of this--location is of course the most compelling reason to stay here. The rooms, however, vary in quality. During... more

Just got back from my trip. The reviewer who complained about the smell in their room must have stayed in my room (302). Yes it did smell (luckily I brought a can of Fabreeze with me) I think the hotel is pet friendly and I think the smell was dog. In any event, with the fabreeze and an open window... more

I stayed at Hayes Valley Inn for one night at the end of September prior to moving to the Inn at the Opera for a week's timeshare exchange. The streetside door is kept locked, however, a guest let me in with his key and I was treated to a most friendly Richard in the office and assigned my room even... more

The hotel is in a great area, very safe and some nice bars/restaurants to choose from and not far from anything you want to see. The rooms are small but very clean and we liked the fact the hotel was traditional and cosy. Staff are very helpful and if you don't mind sharing a very clean bathroom then this is... more
