We spent three nights with John and Kathy at their lovely, old fashioned and friendly house. I just can say that this is the kind of lodging we would love and immediately sign for to find wherever we go. I am convinced we are going to book with them in the future. more

We feared that the days of great B & Bs was over. Not so. We found one in the Nolan House in South Boston. It is a charming old house, furnished lovingly, with something to notice in every corner. The bed was just right. As we are both artists who live in a landmark house, we appreciated the way the... more

We recently stayed at the nolan house. It gave us a sample of the real America. The house had history, nothing corporate or plastic about it. We enjoyed the varied breakfasts we ate during our stay and we liked the idea of communal eating where we got to know the other guests. The roof top view of Boston was fabulous,... more

What a stay! Fabulous! I stayed in one of the second floor rooms - the Amanda room - and felt as if I had booked a room in paradise! Big very clean with comfortable bed and all the comforts there - even satellite TV! John and Kathy are excellent hosts and they will tell you lots of stories about Boston... more

This was our first time in the States and we picked a winner, both in choosing to spend a week in Boston and in finding this friendly and good value hotel. As a family group, the 2 rooms and exclusive use of the well-stocked bathroom on the second floor (to use American terminology) were the next best thing to en... more

We just returned home to Germany from spending 5 nights at the Nolan House. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the breakfast is excellent ! John is a very helpful host and he and Kathy will provide you with a lot of useful information about Boston. The location is South Boston with a good Bus Connection to Downtown Boston... more

Just returned from spending 4 nights at the Nolan House and would highly recommend it. Don't let the front of the property (peeling paint) and first impressions when entering (threadbare stair carpet) put you off - the rooms and bathrooms are wonderful (spotlessly clean) and the breakfast superb. John is a wonderful host and he and Kathy will point you... more

When we arrrived we were a bit surprised, cluttered rooms, worn carpets, but within a few minutes we realised it was OK. The rooms were very clean and John and Kathy sat us down with a drink and gave us maps, advised on transport and eating places ( two of which were very good). Breakfast was great could not have... more

What a great experience I had in Boston. Not only for the marathon but also for staying at the Nolan house. Making the booking and the arrangements through the internet was the first good experience: quick and complete responses, pre-payment through PayPal. Arriving at the place the welcome of John and Kathy was great: plenty of information of the B&B,... more

I consider this an ideal place to stay if you are visiting Boston and don't want to spend an arm and a leg for lodging. John and Kathy are great hosts with a great sense of humor. Even the fact that we are chronically late for everything didn't phase them too much. The room was comfortable, on the 3rd floor.... more
