The Lamothe House is located on Esplanade Avenue, one of the French Quarter's most famous streets, with its ancient live oaks and frequent sightings of horse-drawn carriages. Esplanade is a bounding street of the French Quarter, so you are steps away from the action, but not sleeping in the middle of it. In addition to its convenient location, Esplanade Avenue also offers some of New Orleans' oldest and most interesting architecture. The hotel is within 4 blocks of the historic French Market. more » « less

I stayed at the Lamothe with my son, his wife and my great-neice age 15, we had two rooms. It was in a good location and easy walk to the tolley at the Riverwalk area. There are no close by restaurants that we could go to since we had a minor with us. Every place we went served alcohol and... more

Let me assure everyone that it is standard policy for staff to contact guests when indeed having inquiries into using a credit card at any time when the guest has left. Guests at times do check in with one credit card, have a great time in New Orleans, and then decided to divide payment into 3 ways upon checking out....

We spent two nights in New Orleans before leaving on a cruise from there. I booked the Lamothe House inspite of some "bad" reviews I had read on here. We had a room, actually a suite in the Marigny House. The air conditioner had a hard time, but let's face it, it is July in New Orleans and the ceilings... more

We stayed at this bed and breakfast as a getaway weekend and we really wanted to like this place, as we wanted to make this a getaway for a night in the quarter and not drive. We live here. It is on a great street in the quarter and safe. Right behind the place is Frenchmen St. , which is a... more

In response to early arrivals, we do understand the need for guests to check in early at times. The Lamothe House's check in policy is 3 p.m. We also give consideration to our housekeeping staff to ensure they provide the best service possible by getting all the time allotted them to clean every room diligently. As seen in other reviews,...

The staff let us feel like crap, If you tryed to ask them for some help, the simpley ignored you or just almost not took notice. The first night the door was not possible to look. The look was broken. The cleaning was more like som cat wash. The smell of damp and wet old carpets was very "cut". We... more

If you are looking for a nice, French Quarter experience, then The Lamothe House is fine. It is located right on the edge of the quarter and we were able to walk into the quarter everyday and experience it like the locals. We went to the Cafe' Envie and had a good breakfast with the locals (including a bowl of... more

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We do offer an enhanced breakfast served from 7am to 10am sharp consisting of both white and wheat bread, donuts, danishes, assorted pastries, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, oj, and milk. At times we offer fruit, but the fruit availability is based on season. We also offer our guest a complimentary...

I can't say enough about this place! We stayed for 3 nights and it was amazing. I've recently recently fallen in love with New Orleans and The Lamothe house has just cemented my new found love. The main house is situated on Esplanade between Royal and Chartres on the outer edge of Faubourg Marigny. We stayed in the Marigny (Mar-ra-ne)... more

Just spent a super weekend at Lamothe House Hotel, New Orleans. I was a little concerned due to mixed reviews but our room was very clean, delightfully decorated, & the location cannot be beat. We had a small room off the courtyard of the main house - the bedroom was small but the bathroom was decent sized. I loved the... more

When you weigh the price, the location, the character, and the wonderful staff...this hotel is still my favorite. And I've stayed in most of the hotels in the French Quarter over the past 10 years. I enjoy the sense of living in the Quarter; not of just being a guest of a hotel. This is what you get at Lamothe.... more

We visited the Lamothe House for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's 30th Birthday. We stayed June 5-9, 2008 in Room 101. I was told by a clerk when preparing to book that it is one of the best rooms in the hotel (I really did my research since it was for my hub's birthday). We were definitely not... more

I have traveled the world for the last 20+ years, I have never experienced a greater "hotel horror story" than the Lamothe House. I have stayed in guest houses, B&Bs, hotels and resorts. From the moment we walked in the front door, we knew we were in trouble. The hallway was poorly lit, the sofa was frumpy and stained, the... more
