Hi, My husband and I are looking for a hotel/accommodation for one night in December near the airport. It should be reasonably priced, about 130 Australian Dollars, clean, . Access to the airport is the most important thing as we are catching a connecting flight the following day to Adelaide. Many thanks for the help. It will be our first trip to Sydney.

You do have numerous airport hotels to select.

Please check out www.wotif.com.au for an excellent overview of all levels of accommodation available.

Basically, you have the major airline hotels.

to me, the best tip is stay at Novotel Brighton le Sands.

What time does your flight leave?

You may find that a hotel in the city will be just as convenient, give you more dining options and better access to sight seeing.

It doesnt take long at all to get to the Airport from the City early in the morning. And there are plenty of shuttle buses and taxis readily available.

However, if you are intent on staying "close" to the Airport, I agree that Brighton Le Sands is nice.

(If you are after a clean cheapie, then check out Formule 1 Hotel - it gets decent reviews on this site and will set you back <$100AUD)

P.S Formule 1 is not at Brighton Le Sands - It is within a short walk of the Airport.

Currently I would advise against stying at Novotel..

the traffic in the area has been horrendous for the last 3 weeks, not just the tunnel debacle day...

took an hour to get from Bay St to West Botany St on Wednsday morning.arrrrrgh

Hi there, Thanks for your info. Our local travel agent has suggested the Ibis at Sydney airport as being a good choice for a one night stay. Any comments ? Thanks.

I haven't stayed at the Ibis, but have stayed at the Stamford (paid around $150) and also the Formula One (paid $99)...

The Stamford is obviously a lot more comfortable, but the Formula One will provide you with a clean (albeit small) room, clean bathroom etc. Keep in mind that there are no things such as bathroom products, mini-bar etc at Formula One - it's purely a bed and bathroom....

Stamford is very nice, but their prices can sometimes be a little high for my liking..

Thanks for all the info. Looks like we will go with the Ibis at 189 Oz dollars per night. This is quite expensive by South African standards but will review the hotel after we return .
