We went to Maui in October...and are thinking of returning later this year but would like to see a different island. Which one to choose? We love snorkeling, beaches, waterfalls and the walking around lahaina. Any ideas?

Maui....there is nothing for you...and no Lahainas to walk aroung on any other island...sorry

Please read Hawaii for dummies and see what you are willing to accept..... all the other islands are totaly different from what you want.

Nonsense, HD. Kaua`i certainly has snorkeling, beaches and waterfalls. Shopping is relatively minimal, but there are still some cute towns and small mall-type areas to explore.

Interesting answer HD--I guess the other islands are void of beaches....strange for an island. And they must not have snorkeling because they don't have beaches and waterfalls.....hmmm

Jody,

We're also trying to decide whether we spend our entire 2 week honeymoon on Maui alone or add some other islands into the mix.

We really, really loved Maui. We were happy there, we know what parts of it we plan to spend most of our time and we also know what we didn't have time to do during our last stay.

If you were as happy in Maui as it sounds like you were, I'd recommend visiting again. There are some snorkel cruises, like Ocean Riders (we had the time of our lives!) that circumnavigate Lanai and Molokai and dock at a few of their beaches for snorkeling. You get to see some other islands, and I know it's possible to spend a few nights on each (pricey on Lanai, though).

I've only been to Oahu, Maui, and short stop on a Lanai beach, but I liked Maui best because it seems to have a little of everything the other islands have... a big volcanic crater to bike down, cliffs lining the shores, beaches of every kind, cute little towns like Paia and Lahaina and a wide range of accomodations and prices. I would really, really like to make it to the Big Island and Kauai eventually, and intend to.

It's tough, huh? Do you actually want to go back to Maui? That's OK .... many of us do it. There is a long post by in2food about Maui ... it's current ... you can scroll down and catch it.

We like Oahu, too. Waikiki is fun ... and you can hop in the car and head for the north and east shores. Great beaches and gorgeous scenery.

How much time do you have? Kauai is another good option. You need time for the Big Island.

I would pick up a good guidebook with all the islands and read it through. There are no bad choices -- none. Do want you want.

Try taking this quiz to see which island best fits your needs then read up on it in a travel guide or on here.
