Spent 7 days/6 nights in Maui. Definitely stop by a grocery store before going to your hotel to pick up supplies (water, soda, snacks) as it helps when you are out sightseeing all day or at the beach plus saves money as food is expensive. We brought a couple of soft small coolers and packed stuff every day. Had lunch at Mala in Lahaina. The food was average but the view was terrific. The Westin Maui Resort & Spa has a beautiful lobby and pool is quite nice but gets very crowded and seats are taken until the afternoon. It's nice though as there is an adults only pool so you don't have to deal with the shrieking kids who pee in pools. The hotel room had a great view of the pool and ocean. The room was small though considering the cost. It was nice to have a mini-frig and room safe. The frig had just enough room for sodas, water and a few other things. The bathrooms are not as nice or large as other Westin hotels. The heavenly bed though was just that, I slept like a baby every night. The best highlights of our trip in a nutshell were the following: Arriving and going straight to the Westin Spa for some time in the steam room, jacuzzi and a massage. The spa facility is fantasic and very tranquil. Had dinner at Hula grill bar side. The food was average and the place is too dark and noisy. Went the next AM to watch the sunrise at Haleakala Crater. Definitely worth the drive at 3 AM to see. The view brought tears to my eyes. Being above the cloud cover to watch the sunset there was one of the most magical places I have been. Bring warm clothes as it extremely windy and cold at that time of the AM. Snorkeling was quite good at Napili Bay (the best beach for relaxing/privacy in my opinion), very good at Honolua Bay (lots of rocks and not much shade but the hike through the shady trees to the bay is worth the trip) and good Makena Landing (saw turtles!). Old Lahaina Luau put on a great show. The dancers were beautiful and the story telling made it memorable. The food was decent and the service was very good. The mom & pop restaurants (Plate Lunch, Da Kitchen (definitely try the shave ice located in the same strip mall in Kihei), Gazebo, Paia Fish Market) were much better than the touristy ones near the hotels especially in kaanapali which were pricey and not even good plus the service is poor. All in all a very relaxing trip. Hope this info helps you plan yours.
