I've read most of the beds for the Olympics are locked by Olympic Committees, sponsors, etc. and will be released at some point. Anyone has some inside or experience from previous events? When do you think these beds will be released?

Also, anyone knows about a trusted and reliable website to search for apartments for rent in Beijing?

Thanks!

I came across a lot of apartments for rent during the Olympics on the web. Just Google it. I have a friend who wants to rent her high 3-bedroom place; if you care just message me.

I think renting an apartment will be your best bet. Rates are higher, but definitely cheaper than hotels. I searched for these hotels near the National Olympic Stadium last year (totally forgot the name of it cus it was a Chinese 5 star hotel) , they were asking for US$1300/night ++.

I will be back to Beijing next month and will be renting from Angela again, the landlady. Not sure whether she'll have other apartments available during the Beijing Olympics. I know she manages/owns quite a bit of properties. Either way, you can give it a shot.

Her Email: angela_c_wong@yahoo.com

She listed several properties with VRBO (vacation rentals by owners), but forgot the listing numbers. Shouldn't be hard to look her up though.

Cheers!

I booked a two bedroom condo in Beijing through http://www.easyaccommodationbeijing.com/. The condo is furnished and has a nice kichen. The only downside is that roomservice is not available. You can take a look.

These are the several sites I have looked at:

http://www.easyaccommodationbeijing.com/

ownerdirect.com/accommodations/beijing.htm

http://www.rentnet.com.cn/

Hope this helps.

Here's her listings...

www.vrbo.com/142531

www.vrbo.com/169650

www.vrbo.com/169643

I like using VRBO cus in each listing, they will have a "Comment" or "Guestbook" section so you can see what others are saying about the landlords and their apartments.

I'm so sick of living in Hotels nowadays and way overpriced. I've started traveling around the world renting apartments. If any of you are heading to Bangkok or Phuket, I can suggest an apartment or Boutique Hotel. Cheap, Clean and located near the Night Bizarre.

Cheers!

We were looking at homestays / apartments but it seems that you might have trouble getting a visa. So hotels might be best. There is one for $175 on www.thechinaguide.com
