My flight will be arriving in Hongkong on 22:30, and it's our first time in Hongkong.

I know that the price for the Ibis is almost twice of the Dragon Hostel, but the review that I read in TripAdvisor seems that Ibis really doesn't appriciate asian visitor to it's hotel (I'm asian btw)

So anybody recently stayed in those places? Or if there is anyone that expirienced both would like to give verdict on wich is better?

My Asian friend has been staying there for the last 3 years on monthly rates. Enough said.

Sorry but i need to clarify, is your friend staying in the dragon hostel or the Ibis?

I was referring to the review on the Ibis by Azianangel8011 not the Dragon Hostel.

The review of the IBIS by azianangel8011 is something everyone should read - for it's entertainment value at least!

As to whether HK hotel staff are 'racist' against Cantonese speakers, I'd doubt it very much. Whether hotel staff in a 3 star like the IBIS are sometimes a little short with guests, I have no doubt that they are - but it is not the Peninsula.

Regarding the boiling water incident, it probably would have been quicker for her to catch a taxi to the hospital - ambulances are meant for emergencies.

As to aries_traveler888's question, The IBIS is a hotel while Dragon is a hostel, and that is the main reason for the price difference. I don't think there is that much difference between the room quality (IBIS being slightly better), but some people prefer to stay in a hotel and would never stay in a hostel.

Thanks for the help, I've decided to stay in Dragon Hostel, since we won't be spending much of our time inside the rooms :)

Again, thanks for all the info and help.
