I made reservations for a Sunday night for myself and 2 16 year old teens at the Ramada on Bourbon. We will only be there the one night, but now I'm having second thoughts. Do you think it will be too wild for teens even on a Sunday?

Your teens will get an eyeful, that's for sure. I personally think it's inappropriate but I guess it depends on your kids' maturity levels, etc.

I don't think it's "too" wild, as I doubt you'd let them spend an inordinate amount of time on Bourbon by themselves. Bourbon has an eclectic mix of bars, fancy restaurants and strip clubs. So, as you quickly walk past the risque elements, I doubt your children (as 16 year olds) would see anything they haven't seen already on TV.

Overall, if you're getting a good deal, then it's okay to stay at the hotel, since you won't be walking up and down Bourbon during the entire trip. Plus, there's so much more of the French Quarter to see and explore - it's fine if you use the Ramada as your central home base.

I agree that your 16 year olds probably won't see anything that they haven't already seen on tv. I probably wouldn't take teens down Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, but I don't think that a regular Sunday night would be too bad.

You'll see a little bit of flashing but otherwise it shouldn't be too wild.

Thank you so much everyone for your answers, they really helped to relieve my anxiety. I think we will keep the Ramada reservation and I'll tell them to cover their eyes if I need to. ;)

Our stay went well. The hotel was fine, all of the employees we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have about the hotel is that there was a strange smell in the lobby area.

Our room was on the 5th floor with windows facing Bourbon St. There was a bar across the street with a band playing loudly that we could hear very well. I was a little concerned we wouldn't be able to get to sleep but all 3 of us went to sleep easily, though I'm not sure that would be the case for everyone. We had been walking around the Quarter all day so we were pretty tired. We enjoyed being able to look out the window to see all the people and goings on though.

We mainly shopped and ate, and didn't leave the French Quarter.

I stayed at the Inn on Bourbon in June. Funny you mention the "smell" ....we hated getting off the elevator, it does have a funky smell. Can't even be described. But it didn't bother us that much, were going back in 2 months : )

We really like the location and usually have enough drinks not to worry about the noise.
