Great place to visit. Lots to see. If you are a walker it helps.
The Hotel is four star. But, had a problem with the help. There was a labor strike and all the restaurants were closed in our hotel for two days. The other problem came on the second day. One of the restaurants, "The Beaver Club" was being renovated and there was a large cement truck in front of the hotel, with a large cement hose going through the lobby. That was a complete turnoff. When the weekend came, things quieted down. The rest of the stay was good.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Be prepared to ware good walking shoes. To see all the sights. You can also see the sights with an open air bus ride with tour guide.

Poor service due to union strike
Not an inexpensive hotel so you expect good service and they were having a union strike so service was interupted. Fairmont Presidents Club member still same service. Good location.

Very convenient!
Extremely convenient to all Montreal has to offer. There is street parking nearby which saved us $26/night. Would definitely stay there again.

Great Hotel
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very accomodating. It is approximatly a 20 minute walk to Old Montreal and 10 minutes from the shopping areas. The train station is underneath the hotel. Good central location!

Classy, good value
Pros: - Well priced - Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms - Nice view - One of the better hotel gyms out there - Conveniently located Cons: - Front desk occasionally crowded/understaffed - Plumbing, while clean and functioning perfectly, does not fall into the "luxury" class. Clearly will need updating in the next five years. - In-room internet access requires additional fee, public area wifi unreliable Overall, a very nice hotel, with pros far outweighing the cons.

A Pleasant Stay
The location is convenient. The staff were very courteous. We had a queen-sized bedroom and it was very small, so well get a king-sized room next time when we go.
Traveler's tip on dining
Smoked meat sandwiches at Schwartzs on St. Laurent.

Impressed as usual
This was my 3rd time at the Fairmount and the quality of service is still great. The staff all go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Very professional. Everyone speaks both French and English. Great location.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Hotel food is great but expensive, as with most hotels. But there are so many places to eat in Montreal, the choices are endless. There is a complete eatery under the hotel. Everything from Subway to sushi. Just get on the hotel elevator and take it to the lower level. You will find everything. The train station is also underground.

Great Location
We had a nice stay in the Hotel. The Hotel was in a good location for the Jazz Fest. But the staff were having union disputes and the bellmen and valet service were poor. Waited for bellmen at check out he never showed up. Valet were rude when we tried to get car. Puts a very sour spin on the stay when the staff is rude.

Excellent value and centrally located
We spent four excellent days at the Montreal Fairmont Queen Elizabeth. Because our stay spanned over a Tuesday regional holiday, we had excellent room rates for our stay. Upon our checking in, the front desk was gracious enough to give us an upgraded room (one that was already renovated) and not the standard Expedia room. The hotel is conveniently located near public transportation, lots of restaurants and shopping. We also use the concierge service once for sending an urgent fax and they were very helpful.

great location and service
the hotel is perfect for business or pleasure, at walking distance of tourist attractions like vieux Montreal as well as restaurants, bars and shopping.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
make sure you get a room in floors 18 or 19 Club DOr, for complimentary internet as well as breakfast and evening snacks at the lounge on floor 19.

My home from home in Montreal!!
Ive never stayed in a Fairmont hotel before, and this was a very good first experience. The best thing about it, for us, is that it is right above the VIA Rail train station - so very convenient when you first arrive in town with your suitcases. Montreal is one of the best cities in North America to visit, and this hotel is located right in the centre! Highly recommended. You can enjoy a real English afternoon tea in the Salon de The, too!!

Not bad
Travelled with two older children, was very happy to get a non-smoking room, although we did get odor of smoke from floor above, but management was happy to come and air out the room. Room was small but clean - would stay again - pillows very flat but that did not bother me. Location was great - right across from Eton Centre and underground shopping and above train station which also had restaurants
the restaurants in the train station under the hotel were a great find for a quick breakfast before going out in the am.

Excellent Rooms - Nice location!
I stayed at this hotel for a 4 day weekend getaway. The Hotel did mess up our room reservation upon arrival, as they had to make some changes and move us around after the first nite which was inconvenient. But a few free drinks they gave us was a nice way to show they actually cared. The rooms were very nice, spacious, quiet and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and well laid out. The hotel is basically central to everything in the city, and there is a metro station attatched to it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The conceirges food recommendations however werent the best. We drove, and it was nice (but expensive) to have 24 hr valet.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
For a younger crowd - Rue Cresent is about 6 blocks from the hotel, and St. Catherines is close. Go to "Upstairs" for excellent Jazz, and head up Rue Saint-Lauren for tons of outdoor restaurants and cafes. Old Town has lots of nice little shops to browse.

Wish I could afford to stay there more often
The hotel is in a great central location with easy access to virtually everything you want to do in Montreal. The accomodations were very comfortable, the room was very clean and we were fortunate enough to have a fabulous view. Though the hotel is expensive, it was worth the treat.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Visiting Old Montreal is always a must. It is very unique and not a bad walk from the hotel.

Lovely hotel
We were extremely satisfied with our stay at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth. It was clean and luxurious, with a staff that was courteous, prompt, and responsive to our needs. The hotel is also centrally located and within convenient distance of all local sightseeing points as well as excellent restaurants and shopping venues. We would return to the Fairmont anytime and highly recommend it to others.

Mid-2oth Centurary Charm
On top of the "Underground City," the Queen Elizabeth, like much of Montreal, harkens to the best aesthetics of the 1950s and early 1960s. Its chic and glamorous without looking dated and tired. The personnel were friendly and helpful. This is a great hotel for people looking to enjoy the urban experience of Montreal.
Traveler's tip on dining
If you travel in the winter, dont be surprised of travel delays and cancellations.

Wonderful Experience
My stay was truly a delight. I was a little nervous about my visit as I dont speak a word of French. However, I found that the hotel staff speaks fluent English and all are willing to help you with whatever you need. I will no doubt return for another visit.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The hotel is located above the Via Rail Station. The Bell Centre where the Montreal Canadiens play is only a couple of blocks away. On another note - Avoid the Montreal Casino. The staff is not at all helpful and it is the most confusing building I have ever been in to get around. Also they dont serve complimentary alcoholic drinks to gamblers (only coffee and tea). You have to get to the top floor bar to even buy a beer and you cant take it out of the bar!

Spot on service
Weve stayed at this hotel twice in the last couple of months, since our two oldest children are at college in Montreal. The service was excellent - we had a minor complaint on our first visit and the follow-up, by both the manager and the front desk manager, was prompt and polite and resulted in our reservation being upgraded to a suite on the next visit, an unexpected but much appreciated gesture on the hotels part. We will definitely be back!

Would definitely go back to this hotel.
The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth is a typical Montreal hotel - old world style with updated service & amenities. The food is great, the wait staff are always smiling and ready to assist. Even though there was a fairly large international meeting taking place as well as a number of other group events, the hotel accommodated us for our small sales meeting. We needed a conference room for a second day, requested it at 8 AM and had the room available by 10 AM, along with beverages, lunch, etc. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a business or pleasure stay.
Traveler's tip on local attractions

Great hotel and very good location.
This was my 2nd trip to Montreal and would recommend this hotel to everyone. Whenever I travel, I love to stay at good hotels with very convenient location. This hotel is located within 15 min walk from Old Montreal, 15 minutes to St. Laurent (great restaurants and night life), 10 - 15 mins to Crescent St. (great restaurants again) and just a block from St. Catherines (shopping).
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Montreal is a great town with very good restaurants and nightlife. A must do for all and for young people like myself, its a must do every summer! Quick tip ladies - Blank on St. Laurent offers free drinks to women on Saturdays between 11 pm - 3 am.. Must do Winnies on Crescent St.. Try to get a table outside, its worth the wait.

Not impressed
The room was small and the bathroom sink looked dirty although it wasnt. It was cracked and gave that impression. I expected more from this hotel chain. The staff was very nice. Sunday brunch is excellent. Shopping right there, but downtown is far or at least 20 min or more walk.
Traveler's tip on dining
Eat early because most restaurants close before 10:00pm. If you can visit Quebec.
