Disappointed by the service and construction

Renovations were being done on the floor above mine--loud drilling and hammering (sounded like it was in my room) started at 7am and woke me up. Front desk was unhelpful and denied that it was even happening, saying it must be "street noise" (it definitely was not we were on the 23rd floor). Overall, not the service expected from the Four Seasons, which is usually impeccable.

Traveler's tip on dining

Walk up the street into the Rocks for "Pancakes on the Rocks"--amazing pancakes (and other) food all day long!

Four Seasons is always great

I received the same excellent customer service that I have received at all my Four Seasons experience around the world. The staff is very pleasant. The rooms are always clean and the bed is amazing. The view of the Sydney Opera House was breath taking. It was an excellent experience.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The best part of the trip was the Bridge Climb. It is well worth the price.

Our usual hotel - Poor in Cleanliness & Bad Room Service - Great Breakfast Though

We always stay at the Four Seasons Sydney - about every 18 months. The service is always perfect, however the quality of the property seems on the decline. Our first room we were assigned had a terrible odor of smoke and it was a non-smoking room. We were moved to another room - but our "opera house view" was from a small corner of the room - disappointing. Because we had small kids, we ordered room service - the shrimps in the cocktail were miniscule - and the kids mac & cheese was hard & cold. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was terrific though - I just would not order room service again. The Four Seasons has some work to do to rise to their usual standard. We stay in their properties around the world - and will continue to. Although we hope some improvements will be made to Sydney. The service was fantastic as always - excellent valet, concierge & bell staff.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Great location next to Circular Quay. Starbucks across the street. Can’t beat the location and the views - if you actually get one.

Great location and great views.

The hotel is well located on Circular Quay near the rocks, the bridge & the Opera House. Our room had a spectacular view of the Opera House, the Bridge and the harbor - our bellboy even asked if he could see the view. The service at the hotel was very good. In addition there are a number of excellent restaurants nearby.

What we expected from Four Seasons and more!

The Four Season Sydney is exactly what we expected and more. We arrived at 7 am and were greeted by smiles and enthusastic welcomes from the doorman to the bellman to the exceptional front desk staff and concierge. Our request for early check-in was granted and very much appreciated. Throughout our stay, everyone greeted us with personal hello’s, etc. The hotel room was exactly as it is shown on the website, including the Opera House View - small, but very comfortable, bedding is lovely and comfortable w/down duve and pillows, and the bathroom is fantastic. Our room was very clean, including the carpet, and turn-down service each evening is especially nice. Having a mini-bar and coffee-making ability was an A+. If you want a romantic, gourmet dinner - Kable’s is your best bet! Our first impression was as good as our last!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Just a block away from Circular Quay Wharf, makes ferry and bus-hopping a breeze. The "blue & white" city bus took us everywhere we wanted to go. Sydney Harbour Cruise, Opera House, Royal Botanical Gardens, Maritime Museum and Aquarium, Bondi Beach (great little golf course w/dramatic views of Tasman Sea!), Taronga Zoo, The Rocks District and Pitt Street Shopping District. A definite must for adults and children is Luna Park located at Milsons Point. spectacular views from the ferris wheel!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Our room overlooked the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Walking distance to the Rocks and to Circular Quay. Fabulous hotel.

5 stars

The Four Seasons demonstrated why it is a truly 5 star establishment. The hotel is situated perfectly between the jump off points for the ferries and bus tours, major shopping and the shops and restaurants in the Rocks area, the Sydney Opera House and cafes lining the waterfront. At night it was an easy thing to walk to the waterfront to have a spectacular view of the Opera House and bridge. The hotel itself provided terrific 5 star service, personnel friendly and very helpful They were able to accomodate my specific requests and even provided a "free upgrade" without a request. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The concierge was extremely happy to provide maps and give some good pointers in my explorations of the city and help with transportation needs. The gym was accessible 24hr/day and was well outfitted with tvs at each station, and upon returning from a run in the city I was greeted by the doorman with a towel and bottled water. The internet use rate was rather outrageous. There are a couple of well-stocked convenience stores across the street that also have internet stations set up. Had a great stay at this establishment, would definitely return on my next visit!!!!

Best hotel in Sydney - and value

I stayed 5 nights at the Four Seasons on an Expedia rate that was LESS than the Radisson and several other lesser-rated hotels. The hotel, rooms and service staff were world class. The location is perfectly located to downtown, overlooks the Opera House and Harbour bridge, The Rocks, shopping and the ferries of Circular Quay. When I return to Australia, this is the first place I’ll look. Complaint: the heralded outdoor hotel pool is on a rooftop adjacent to a freeway on-ramp, noisy and not inviting. Other hotel’s with indoor pools are much more serene and enjoyable. Room service was pricey, as expected. Laundry services were outrageously priced too high.

Traveler's tip on dining

Sushi E, at the Establishment Bar’s 4th floor, was phenomenal and surpsingly affordable. Don’t let the yuppie/post-grad crowd scare you off.

Royalty

We have stayed in hotels from New York, Las Vegas, Mexico, D.C and all around Australia and have have never enjoyed a hotel stay more. The only minor thing wrong was so many people taking advantage of the midday checkout which resulted in a short delay. The bottled water in our car was a nice touch.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is nothing better then a 2 hour buffet breakfast with no kids and a newspaper. The buffet breakfast was excelent.

Good quality with superb location

The hotel is extremely well situated, and of high quality My main concern is that the aircon in the room was fiercely cold, and didn’t seem to respond to trying to change the temperature on the control (this is a common problem in many hotels, by the way)

Comfort with Class

Hotel located in the heart of the Rocks District. Best location for sightseeing and many restaurants near-by. Hotel offers small cafe dining that is not expensive. Service was impeccable.

Wishing we were there......

We had spectacular views of the Sydney Bridge and of the Opera House from our room. The hotel itself is in an ideal location. It was easy walking distance to numerous museums and parks, the opera house and the quay. Great restaurants, shopping and other forms of entertainment are also nearby. The hotel decor in the public area’s is a bit outdated; however, the rooms themselves are exceptionally well done and very comfortable. The service is flawless. The staff is polite, professional and very, very helpful. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Christmas stay@ Four Seasons

The Hotel lobby & pool were lovely. The rooms were quite small; what I had expected from reading the reviews. Fabulous location. Unusual for a 4 Seasons - no slippers. Kables was disappointing - too limited of a menu. The biggest problem we encountered was from the coincierge. We asked that a reservation be made at a restaurant; not done. Then, they tried to say we did not request the reservation. In the end they got the reservation. Thank goodness we did the follow up. I would not expect this, nor the negative interaction from a 4 Seasons hotel! Also, the service staff, from maids to doormen were outstanding and went beyond that which was expected. They were outstanding!!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Great location for the Harbor & transportation around Sydney. The Opera House views from room were wonderful - try lunch there. Expensive, but worth it! Many fantastic restaurants within short walking distance. The market at the Rocks is fun & gives a taste of the local scene.

Great location and service

The Four Seasons is a short (2 minute) walk to the ferries and trains, as well as the Rocks and Opera areas. The hotel has great facilities (bar, restaurant, pool, spa, etc.) and service, from the front desk to concierge to maid service. Highly recommended and a great value as part of an Expedia package...
