Dream a travelers Dream

Everyone is always trying to save a bit on a room. Unfortunately these days in BKK hotel prices are matching up to the standards of what you pay for is what you get. Ive found Dream to be one of the hidden gems on Soi 15. Clean rooms with working showers, thick bed sheets, and carpeted floors make a whole difference in your peace of mind time. Also missing are the odd smells that cheaper hotels cant seem to get rid of. Dream seems to somehow cope with these on a yearly basis as Ive stayed here year after year to the same consistent quality. The staff is always polite but never into your business. As most BKK travelers notice, the thai people love to know where youre going, where you have been, and what you do at home for work. Hotels of world class value in BKK and around the world dont ask these questions and Dream follows suit. Cheaper hotels in BKK, travelers will experience what I mean by "in your business" and Dream does an awesome job of not associating with the local crooked taxi dealers on the street trying to mislead you into going somewhere you dont. Food quality in the restaurant is excellent although pricey..one drawback is that is may be confusing just to get a simple coffee in the morning but otherwise the buffet is fantastic. My only drawback is that in Dream Bldg.1 (they now have 2 buildings)...they have designed the toilet with a chic glass door so be wary that your guests will see your every move and business...if you are traveling alone...then it’s fine!

Great hotel in a great city

I have no complaints about the Dream Hotel. It is in a great location, clean, beautifully designed, etc. I highly recommend it.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Everything you need is walking distance or a short taxi ride away.

Good location and good service

Near to the skytrain station. there are 2 block of the hotel, Dream 1 and Dream 2, we were in Dream 1 therefore, if you need to go for a swim, you will need to cross the road to Dream 2 as the swimming pool is located there. Design of the room is cool. didn’t really use the facilities... ;-)

Dream Hotel, Bangkok

Excellent value for money! Top-notch hotel with first class service. The hotel manages to combine style, charm and character! The location is also very good, only a couple of minutes walk from the bustling main street of Sukhummvit. Overall, I’m an extremely satisfied customer and I will definitely check into the Dream Hotel again on my next visit to Bangkok!

Not bad, not great, beware the gangsters :)

The hotel itself was fine. The staff was friendly, but they were of a different sort (in terms of behavior) than one would find at a more established place. My only real significant annoyance was that the concierge tried to hussle us by getting us to rent a car for a day to tour the city (for 800 baht). No problem with suggesting a car, but he used fear tactics to do so: he warned us that we needed to worry about "gangsters" and made touring the city seem very dangerous (this was during the daytime). Based on my experience in Thailand, I suspect he was pushing the taxi in order to get a cut of the money. (I’m not a paranoid traveler, by the way.) In short, I guess, the service felt very cheap. I wouldn’t expect similar behavior at a more reputable place. (But I could be wrong about that.)

Pleasant Surprise

Our stay at the Dream Bangkok was very fine indeed! We had never been to this country and I was pleased that Internet research lead me to select this hotel. The hotel’s restaurant has excellent cuisine, it is close to the SkyTrain. Plus the front desk works with you to set up tours with taxi drivers-a great deal. My husband and I had an totally enjoyable experience at Dream and would definitely go there again.

Traveler's tip on shopping

This hotel is close to a western styled mall and down the street, around the corner are street market vendors. Tuk-tuks are an easy way ti get around town.

Nicer even than Dream Hotel in NYC

Wife and I checked in for a quick overnight stay. We are big fans of the boutique genre (Schrager et al) and know the Dream Hotel in NYC since we live there. Thought the room we stayed in at Dream Bangkok was even a touch nicer than the rooms we’ve seen in Dream NYC. The guy who checked us in was very helpful with ideas for what to do with our limited time in the city. A couple of knocks: 1) They had no room service and we were starving when we arrived around 10:30pm. 2) We could hear in our room (4th floor) the pulsating Cuban music from the hotel’s bar on 2nd floor. We would stay there again in a heartbeat and would just make sure our room was on a higher floor.

Dream Bangkok

Excellent modern hotel in a quiet sidestreet central to Sukhumvit area and three stops on the Skytrain from Zen and other shops.

Not a good value for the money

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I was supposed to have a breakfast buffet included but was told at check-in that it was not included. I stayed in the Jr. Suite and the bathrooms was spacious, but not what you would expect of a 4 star hotel. The laundry charge appeared to be excessive and the lounge on the second floor was unavailable as it was booked for private parties or meetings. The balcony was locked and unaccessible. Not a good value for the money.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

there are many comparable hotels in the surrounding area that are considerably less. The room was not a good value for the money, there was not a dresser in the bedroom and the blue indigo lighting was tacky. The location is not what you would consider a 4 star area. Shop around for a better value. I will not use again.

nice place to stay, would stay there again

I stayed in a junior suite located on the 9th floor of Dream 1. The staff were friendly and attentive. The price for room service and laundry were on the high side but this is to be expected at any hotel. The free Wifi worked well and I was able to access it without making any special requests. There was also a wired connection in the room. They provided a power adapter in the room. They also supplied the room with free bottled water daily. They provided me with a complementary birthday cake after they noticed my birth date on my passport.

Great bargain on great hotel but the’ll REALLY get you on ancillary costs

VERY CAREFULLY watch your minibar, hotel phone, roomservice and cleaning bills -- otherwise its like an Ian Schrager hotel at a third of the price! If you disagree or have a reasonable problem, only deal with the Swiss manager guy and he’ll be fair with you.

New and Clean....but...

Nice clean modern hotel. It is much better to stay in DREAM2, and not DREAM1. The rooms are much bigger. Breakfast was not included. This is very untypical of most Bangkok hotels. The breakfast was grossly overpriced, and simply not worth the money. Staff was very friendly, and helpful. The hotel is somewhat isolated. Many taxi drivers did not want to give you a ride to or from the hotel.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Stay in DREAM2....avoid DREAM1. There are many other hotels with a better location, better restaurants, at a lower cost.

Very Impresive!

From the moment I arrived the staff was positively delightful! They were helpful, accommodating and expedient. My third day there I had a friend coming who likes to smoke. I called down and got switched to a smoking room all in about 15 minutes. My friend ended up not coming and called to switch back. No problem! I was back in a clean room within a little while.

Great trendy hotel

I can see how some people may be put off by the slightly over-trendy decor of this hotel, but it really is a great place to stay in Bangkok at a good price. The staff is very courteous and helpful, and the room is lush and comfortable. My only complaints are that the restaurants are too pricey and they have stopped stocking the bathroom with extra towels and hand soap, some odd penny pinching that takes away from the luxury feel of the place. But that said, I would stay there again, and again.

What a find!

What a great find! I travel to Bangkok from time to time, and I like the 4-star hotels there because of their good service and reasonable rates. But prices have been going up quite a bit recently so I was looking for one a bit cheaper. No disappointment at all! This was the best hotel I’ve stayed at in BKK. Free, fast internet. Newly refurbished rooms, powerful air contioning, clean and well maintained, and very reasonably priced compared to others. It is about 100 yards off the main road, so even the taxi driver had to hunt for it. But it is much quieter as a result. The SkyTrain station is at the end of the road, about 100 yards from the hotel. I didn’t stay there long enough to try the food.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Taxi from the aiport cost me 300 baht plus 80 for the tollway. Taking the limo with the company that rugby-tackles you as you come out of Customs is 1000 baht, all inclusive (I used it the previous time). Overall I found the limo worth the extra amount, it’s only 30 bucks after all! And you ride in a nice beemer instead of a rickety old corolla.

Great location, great hotel

It is a bit expensive, but it was so worth it. Down the street from a Beer Garden with excellent inexpensive food, and near so many things. The staff also doesnt sweat you if you dont want to be waited on every second of the day. But they will wait on you if thats what you want. The train is close by, and is very user friendly and cheap.

Really good stay

The hotelwas very good and rooms are really comfortable. Food was also good, although not impressive. Location is quite good as it is about 6 blocks from Skytrain.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Traffic in Bangkok is terrible, so use the subway or skytrain whenever it is possible. Cab drivers do not understand english...

Romantic weekend

We loved the blue lights, the pool and the restaurant. Would definitely return, although, not with our two kids - more for adults.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Great Thai Massage studio - right around the conrner on the way to the sky-train. And the skytrain will take you to center fast!

I heart Dream Bangkok Hotel

I stayed with Dream hotel for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. It was the most comfortable hotel bed ever. I thought everything was perfect. In fact I left Bangkok for a copule days and decided to return to Dream for the last two nights of my stay. Great for the $$$.

nice but totally disorganized

It often felt like the inmates were running the asylum at the Dream. Stylish but poorly run and in many cases poorly designed, the staff here seemed to be out of it’s depth. Facilities and rooms in the new wing are very nice but the doormen are a little too eager and the front desk is incompetent.

Dream Bangkok

We stayed 1 night (January 6, 2008) at the Dream Bangkok, and simply loved it. Uber cool. The room, like most in Asia, was not large, but was fabulous - great touches everywhere and very chic. Free internet access(PC available in lobby if you don’t have your own) and free Breakfast were included. Nice. Location’s pretty good, near the very convenient SkyTrain, and a cab back from Patpong after a night travelling around the city amounted to 2.00 USD. Would definitely recommend for couples, singles (both leisure and business).

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Despite the often overwhelming crowds, do NOT miss the Grand Palace - it’s mesmerizing. Also, for a special dinner in Bangkok, we highly recommend Salathip at the Shangri-La, overlooking the river. Thai food at it’s best, with an unbeatable atmosphere including traditional Thai dance right at your table. Maybe the best single meal we’ve ever had.
