A Breathe of Fresh Air

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ritz and would love to go back. It was nice to be there during non peak season because there wasn’t a lot of traffic. There was only one problem that we incurred and that was being charged for a lunch twice. We put everything on our Amex card and when we checked out there was a charge for one of the lunches that had already been charged to our card. We couldn’t find the receipt and it was time to go, so we left with the charge remaining.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There could have been more to do for those that were staying at the hotel regardless if it was non peak season.

This hotel is very nice and wants for nothing except maybe a little more Jamaican character.

The maintenance, the grounds, the rooms, etc. are all lovely. The service is too--people are very nice and helpful. I especially loved the large pool--big enough to swim laps. My only personal criticism of the Ritz Rose Hall Jamaica is that it doesn’t have a lot of character--you feel like you could be anywhere (albeit somewhere very NICE) when you are there--nothing really says "Jamaica" other than the accents of the staff. But for some, that would be a plus. Also, the items sold in the hotel are ridonkulously expensive (and there is no where you can go in walking distance to find reasonably priced items). So, if you care about such things, pack your own sunscreen to avoid having to buy a $30 bottle in the hotel shop!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t buy ANYTHING at the Ritz! $8 for a tiny little coke in room service, $6 for an ice coffee at the bar, $160 for a bikini that would cost ~ $80 in the states, etc.

Great service. Beautiful Resort.

This hotel definitely lived up to the Ritz Carlton reputation for great service and top quality. Even though we were hit with a hurricane during one of our nights there, the staff did an excellent job taking care of everyone and making sure we were comfortable. The resort is beautiful and the spa and fitness center were state of the art.

Week @ The Ritz

We went thwre and had our wedding ceremony. The people at the hotel were wonderful. The resort is beautiful but the food is wayyyy too expensive.

Traveler's tip on dining

Try to go into Montego Bay to save a few dollars. But beware their tax of food and beverage is 30%!

Extremely overpriced regarding food and tours.

Beautiful hotel and wonderful service. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money for all food. Breakfast for a family of four costs $90, transportation to and from the airport which is just a short distance from Hotel (approx. 4 miles) costs $40 roundtrip per person. When you stay at the Ritz, everyone expects you to pay more with the assumption that you can well afford it!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Martha Brae rafting was overpriced. The water was dirty and you couldn’t swim in it. The best was horse back riding in the Ocean, a definate must. Ocho Rios Dunns River Falls.. be careful, the guides are more concerned about the video production that they will try to sell you after you reach the top. Many people fell and hurt themselves because the guides were more concerned about the video. Everyone expects to be tipped for every little thing... be prepared.

exceptional

The staff and facilities was exceptional!!!! the Ritz Carlton is a beautiful resort and loved the spa services. This is a place to unwind from your busy life style and enjoy your fruits that you work hard for. The food is exceptional wouldn’t change anything for it. If you would like something else the chef would make whatever you wanted to your taste and go beyond if he had to. The service was excellent me and my husband met some nice and pleasant staff members alone the way and the courtesy was extremely pleasant. We LOVED IT!!!!. The hotel is extremely clean and no bugs don’t listen to the other blogs they don’t what they were talking about. The person who stated different before i decided to book my trip was wrong! The people are nice the facilities was nice and clean and the food was exceptional. I would go back and bring a friend or to be with my husband again and would be like honeymooinig again. The only thing i didn’t like the store at the rose hall didn’t carry double a batteries and they charge so much to the travelers for things that are cheaper in the states. So whatever u do bring enough batteries for your camera and personal women products with u or u could be paying out of pocket.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The best thing a person could do is make sure that they get the paradise package all inclusive or if not they would be paying alot for their food and beverage. It is work paying for that package unless your a big brawler and don’t mind paying the high tab every night. You could be broke at the end of your trip if u don’t watch it.

Nice Property

Wonderful service, good food, very expensive food - $400/day for a family of 4 (two small kids) therefore all inclusive a must. Beach is man made and not that great but quite secluded and not crowded which was a plus.

Great Experience

This is the second time in a year and a half we have been back. I am not usually a fan of the food in the all -inclusive packages, but at the Ritz, the food was delicious and the service is always top notch.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you like to eat and drink, go with the all inclusive package, it will be worth it.

Best Place to Stay in Jamaica

We were trying to decide between an all inclusive and staying at the Ritz. We took a taxi into Montego Bay and past a few of the other places we almost stayed and it just confirmed the Ritz was definitely the right choice. Everything about the Ritz was wonderful. The food was a bit pricy, but good. They are very service oriented - the staff went out of our way to make us feel special.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The waterfront sports- sailing, windsurfing, kayaking was FREE!

A Pleasure of a vacation

We were very pleased with our recent visit. The facility was impeccably clean and maintained. The room was a pleasure to return to after a day of relaxing around the pool and enjoying the restaurants. The quality of the restaurants was first class and is highly recommended. We would gladly visit again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Deffinatly arrange for their all inclusive package. While the restaurant meals are excellent, the on site food and drink tend to be very expensive and can easliy add up to doubling your cost of stay.

Great but not 5 Diamond

The standards may be different in Jamaica. We’ve stayed at many Ritz properties throughout the world. While the Jamaica prop was nice, it wasn’t at the 5 diamond level. Especially disappointing was the food. We stayed 6 nights and took most of our meals at the prop including White Witch. With 3 persons in the group, we got an opportunity to try everything on the menu. It was a disappointment, to say the least. Even the blue mountain coffee was so watered down that I had to order French press each time. The wait staff was friendly but a bit slow. Each also left the menus at the table. Is that their policy? We often had to ask for coffee refills 2 or 3 times before the request was addressed. For the money we paid, we should’ve stayed home at the Marina del Rey Ritz property or gone to Cancun or Maui Ritz.

Very pleased

This is my fourth time going to the Ritz Carlton Jamaica. I have made it a yearly trip because the service is top notch. You can’t get better in Jamaica, Montego Bay.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Definitely go with the meal plan.

One of the best ever!

We had great time at Ritz. Food and service was amazing. Hotel staff paid attention to every detail. Nice pool area but beach was smaller then expected. I suggest you get the All-inclusive plan. Food is very expensive but worth every penny. Make sure you eat at White Witch one night. Go early for drinks and sunset.

Relaxing, Excellent Experience

This is the second time we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Jamaica. The hotel is clean, well-furnished, and the staff was attentive for the most part. (We did have a small problem with getting our luggage sent to the room.) The room was clean and spacious. Food and drink were excellent. Facilities are great including beach, pool, tennis courts, and gym. We didn’t use the spa or golf course. Great Place to Relax!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

When you book, make sure you book for the "all inclusive" which includes all food and drink. Looking at the menus each night, you’d spend a fortune otherwise.

Over rated

I was extremely disappointed with our stay. I have stayed at the Ritz in the US but this property is far from perfection. First of all I was not greeted when I arrived, I stayed at the property for 10 days and I had to call housekeeping for towels and wash clothes because there were none left in the room when they so called cleaned. The bathroom was dirty, the base boards were filthy and to top it off when I complained about how uncomfortable the bed was and they removed the down comforter from the Duvet cover, it was filthy. There were make-up stains from the last 20 guests that stayed there and the edges of the down comforter were black. I thought I was being punked by Ashton Kutcher . What a huge disappointed they state this is a five star hotel that is lye. I wish I was evaluating this property because I would have given them a 2 stars. My room was a 3 minute walk from the lobby which I thought was awful. The staff was not accommodating at all, every time I complained they had an attitude. I will be writing a letter to the corporate office because my horrible stay. I defiantly would check your bed the next time you go because they cover up there filthy comforters with clean sheets on top. Yucky!!!! The air condition quality is horrible. I was hot every day. The property is beautiful but the staff needs A LOT of TRAINING. Very disappointed guest

Don’t stay at the Ritz in Montego Bay, its the worst stay I ever had at any Hotel.

The beach is too bad.

Hotel service is comparatively better. However, private beach is too bad. There are a lot of stones and rocks in the sand of beach. Due to such particls of rocks, we could not enter a sea and not enjoy beach.. Too bad. Additionally, golf course staff is not warm and have a lack of courtesy. Too bad.

Fantastic

Everything was wonderful. The watersports were great fun. The staff exceeded my expectations. Gift shop items were comparable to airport..some things were even cheaper at the hotel. This was my second stay at this resort and I would def stay here again.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The beach is rocky so bring water shoes. A must do is the sail out in the water.

Can’t wait to ’come back to Jamaica, mon!’

I don’t know how anyone could have any complaint. It’s the Ritz Carlton in Jamaica! Superior service, excellent food, wonderful accomodations, and super people. Bar none, it’s the best! Don’t mess around- get the all-inclusive. Dine at all the great restaurants and enjoy island bevarages from your lounge at the pool or on the beach. The Jerk Shack on the beach is super. Dinner at White Witch is incomporable. Forget all the touristy attractions (Dunns River, Doctor’s Cave, etc...). Waist of time and money unless you enjoy long, arduous bus rides in overcrowed, overpriced tourist attractions. The Ritz has everything you need. We traveled with our children (ages 10 & 3) and wish only that we had the time back from various attractions to spend more time on the beach, in the ocean and at the pool. Get a kayak and some snorkel gear and explore the amazing coral reef right off the beach at the Ritz. 200 yards out to the left (looking out to sea) of the beach. WOW! Staying at the Ritz with the all-inclusive in Montego Bay, relax mon!

Bring a decent pair of goggles or snorkel gear for you and the kids. The aqua life and coral reef are truly amazing right off the beach!
