You will never forget your stay in Vicky's house. Oh, you don't know who Vicky was? Well neither did I until we stayed at her house (The Schlosshotel Kronberg). This place is so cool. They offer a tour and I highly recommend it so you can appreciate the history of the place. The rooms are very nice, see the pictures we took of our room before we messed it up. We splurged on this one Hotel during our Germany trip and it was worth it.

I'm usually not one to visit resorts. I don't relax well. But this hotel is simply the best to relax amid exquisite luxury. The staff truly makes you feel like a guest in a home instead of just a paying customer.
This was my second visit. Even on a careful budget, I have had a lovely room, beautifully appointed with luxury bath items and a well-stocked mini-bar at no extra fee.
The roaring fireplace is a splendid setting to sit and unwind, perhaps to order a light snack or tea. And a leisurely stroll into historic Kronberg will not disappoint. The historic Johanneskirche is a feast for the eyes.
If you're interested in Queen Victoria's extended family, you will want to stroll the halls of the hotel and study the family photographs on the walls.
The breakfast is sumptuous and the staff is friendly and attentive. On an earlier visit I also had dinner at the hotel -- an extraordinary "special event" kind of dinner.

“Excellent Stay, Excellent Service”

The Schlosshotel Kronberg currently has a special last-minute weekend rate of EUR 220 for dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 people, the "Trial Weekend" rate, which can be booked beginning 3 weeks before your stay. Although this is significantly less expensive then their standard rates, when I called to book I was made to feel very comfortable and treated as a valued customer. When we parked our rather shabby Opel among the large number of Audis, BMWs and Mercedes in their parking lot , the doorman hurried over to open the car door for my wife and take our luggage. The desk clerk recognized me - we talked on the phone when I reserved the package - and she was very pleasant and welcoming. We were given a rather small but lovely room with a balcony overlooking the golf course, an antique writing desk and a large bath. Awaiting us were a fruit basket, a letter from the general manager welcoming us, and a note that the mini-bar (filled with non-alcoholic drinks and beer) was complimentary. My wife and I took baths before going down to dinner. When we returned, not only were the beds turned down (which I expected), but the used towels were replaced and the mineral water and soda we had used were replenished. The 3-course dinner was very good. The appetizers and deserts were excellent, while the main course was good but less exciting. Again, the service was very good, and we were treated as very important customers. We left our shoes out to be polished overnight, and they were delivered spotless, in special soft cloth shoe bags. Breakfast was also of excellent quality: the usual breakfast buffet, but also including several kinds of fish as well as an excellent Champagne. This was the only time that the service broke down: we had the impression that breakfast was being run by 2 trainees, and only one of them knew what they were doing. The public rooms and hallways are...well, palatial, as you might expect in a castle built for a member of the German and British monarchy! Rather than attempt to describe them, take a look at the hotel's web site. You will find that the castle is even more impressive than the photos on the web site. I cannot imagine how the staff could have made us feel more welcome! For me, EUR 220 is expensive, but this was money well spent. Highly recommended.

“Wonderful treat”

Stayed here 2 snowy nights for a business trip. It is a beautiful building in a wooded setting surrounded by walking paths and a golf course. There is great attention to detail both in the furnishings, food, and service. This would be an ideal place for a romantic getaway as you are pampered and treated like royalty. The food was excellent and the rooms are all different and quiet.

Absolutely a great old hotel. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The grounds were beautiful. We stayed in room 121, and it is one of the nicest accommodations we have ever seen. Large separate living room with fireplace, decorated with tiles. It was a memorable stay.
