Arrived at the resort to be greeted by a very welcome ice-cold rum punch. Very friendly and efficient check-in. We were soon happily settled in our ocean view cottage (No 76).
This had a lovely big sitting/bedroom with a king-size bed, 2 comfy chairs, coffee table, dressing table with plenty of drawers and TV. There was a seperate dressing room with plenty of hanging space and the safety deposit box. Large bathroom with a good size shower.
Main pool is where all the day/night activities , there is the main bar here also the Pick a Pepper buffet restraunt, to the right of this is Nyamings the jamacian al a carte, which is above the fun crew centre where you collect your beach towels and book any water sport activities.
Quiet pool was lovely, surrounded by palm trees and flowering hedges, this has its own small bar.
Jetty bar was fantastic, the barmen made the best cocktails here and kept you amused with their antics. There are lots of comfy sun loungers and seats here and of course the bar swings.
We ate in all 3 restraunts and were perfectly happy with all of them.
Disco, we only visited once but it was buzzing and us old fogies were finally kicked out about 2.30AM!!
We decided to upgrade to Royal Decameron in Montego Bay for the last 3 nights.
The room here was ground floor with a terrace facing the ocean (room 10) WOW what a room, 2 double beds. Bathroom with shower and bath, absolute luxury.
There is 2 pools (1 with swim up bar), jaccuzi, snack bar where you could help yourself to beer and soft drinks. 1 al a carte and 1 buffet restraunt, the service and food was fantastic. There is 3 bars here and the Disco was great here as well.
This hotel is placed on the Hip Strip so you can leave the resort and venture out to the shops, nightlife etc.

The trips we did were....
Appleton Rum Factory/ YS Falls/ Black River
Dunns River Falls
Ochre Rious Shopping

I bought the trip price list home so if anyone wants details of the trip prices or any other info just message me.

“(Mostly) Perfect Honeymoon”

Royal Decameron Club Caribbean

Jun 23, 2008
5/7 found this review helpful

Hello,

We've just got back from our honeymoon at the Royal Decameron Club. We had an excellent time - the hotel is really, really nice! The individual beach houses are amazing - they look really pretty from a distance and it's really nice having the privacy of your own hut!

The food is really good too - my wife is veggie, and although there wasn't always a specific vegetatian dish, there was always plenty for her to eat. Having the al a carte restaurants also makes a really nice change - though I'd say the food there wasn't as good as the buffet.

The activities in the hotel were good - glass bottom boat ride is excellent, tennis court is good, gym looks good (we didn't use it). Having two pools is really nice, and the jetty bar is lovely.

Entertainment was really very good (we don't often do holidays like this, but still quite enjoyed it).

Some words of warning...
The tours we did were quite expensive and not good value for money. They typically seem to involve a long bus journey with a witty driver, lots of explanation about local flora, and rather little of what you've paid to do. Also, drivers / tour guides asking for a tip became a little tiresome - I thought we'd paid plenty enough to do the tour already??!!

The lady on the "fun" desk was miserable - enough to put us off doing some activities!

Overall, it was a really good time though - really enjoyed it. Probably wouldn't go back, but probably knew that before we left.

“Best Holiday Ever Had!”

Royal Decameron Club Caribbean

5 of 5 stars

10/10 found this review helpful

We stayed here for 7 days and had a lovely relaxing time. I would recommend it here if that's what you're after not for if you want a holiday with a mad scene and lots to do outside the resort.

Check-in was easy and we arrived to a lively atmosphere.. We were shown to our lovely little hut which had its own patio area, perfect for sitting out in the sun! The huts are deceptively large and the bed was SO comfy. There was also a large TV and a walk in wardrobe area. The bathroom was really clean and the whole hut was cleaned throroughly each day and clean towels left.

The food was lovely and there was something available all day. There were 2 main places in the day and 2 others in the evening. Breakfast was the best meal of the day with fresh pancakes, french toast, waffles, eggs, sausages, bacon, beans etc all on offer as well as loads of fresh fruit, juices and cereals. Was bliss eating breakfast in the sun overlooking the sea.

Evening meals were also fine with lots on offer although some nights were better than others. Started at 6 until late all to the reggae entertainment which was a bit repetitive but fine on the whole.

The beaches were stunning and kept clean and always plenty of room and loungers for everyone. No one bothered you.

My only moan would be sometimes the bar seemed a little understaffed in the evenings.Take advantage of the massage service in the huts overlooking the sea for about £7.

Make sure you do the waterfall trip which is terrifying at first but really fun and the guys are mad. Brilliant fun.
Had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend the Club Caribbean!

“Fantastic wedding”

We got married at this hotel 5 years ago and it really was the best day of our lives. The wedding planner did a fantastic job and we really couldnt have asked for more. We travelled with friends and family and one of those friends has returned 3 times. The only reason we havent returned is because there are so many other countries we want to visit. We will without a doubt go back one day. If you are planning on getting married abroad this is the place to do it. We stayed in a beach bungalow. Brilliant.

“Fab time at the RDCC!!!”

Royal Decameron Club Caribbean

Jun 14, 2008
14/14 found this review helpful

Just came back from a two week holiday at the RDCC and absolutely loved it! The staff are absolutely great and cannot do enough for you. Even though the hotel was fully booked the whole time we were out there, we had fantastic service all the way through. There are many reviews which will reflect the brilliant time I had so instead, I'll put down my tips which should (hopefully!) make your stay enjoyable.

Coming out of montego bay airport:
You will be immediately swamped by sales reps wanting to sell a booklet containing discount vouchers for trips. We did not go for these as we did not know how we would contact these people or know what prices our own rep would have charged or what trips we would have liked to do anyway. I also disliked being given a hard sell before we set foot out of the airport. it was a bit much. You will also be hassled by porters who want to take your luggage to the transportation bus. If you don't need to use them, then a polite no will suffice. We took our own bags to the bus but then were a bit put out when someone expected a tip for putting our cases into the bus. As we didn't have much money on us (as we didn't realise we would need it as the transport was pre-paid), I offered a 50p coin which was rejected! I did object to a tip being expected for something which I wouldn't expect me to do anyway!!!

Checking in:
Very quick - all keys and forms were laid out in advance and the welcome drink was refreshing!!!!

Loungers:
Best ones are by the main pool - use the ones with the blue lining as the ones on the beach have slats and are quite painful after a while! Loungers tend to go pretty quick so I used to be down by the pool at 8 at the latest and put my towel on it before going to breakfast.

Activities:
The activities I got involved in were the morning aerobics with Chris or Fras - they are brilliant and the exercise isn't too vigourous! Boche ball which is a beach version of boules is also cool and you will find that the guests do get competetive with each other which makes it fun!! The reggae dance classes are great fun and they have you on stage in front of those by the pool so it is definately not for the shy but it's all in good spirits and you don't have to be the greatest dancer to get the moves.

Things to do when the weather is bad:
When we went it rained 50% of the time. The only critism I have of the hotel is that there is a lack of activities when the rain is very heavy. You have a tv in your room, but the channels are quite limited and the signal isn't always great and some of the channels are blocked. There is a pool table, a tv room and internet facilities ($10 US for 30 mins) and they have a selection of board games, but not nearly enough if the hotel is fully booked. We took a pack of cards and also a portable DVD player so we chilled out in our room when the rain was really heavy.

Outside the hotel:
We only ventured out of the hotel to go to the supermarket to buy snacks and some toilettries. Buy your stuff here rather than the hotel shop as it is much cheaper (come out of the hotel and turn right after the t-shirt and craft shop). You will get people asking if you want your hair braided or hire a taxi but if you just say no thanks, you won't get hassled any further. Be sure to give your room number to the hotel security by the gate as you leave the premises and return to ensure you are safe.

Recommended trips:
1) Dunn's river falls
2) Dolphin Cover
3) 9 mile (visiting Bob Marley's place of birth and where he died)

All in all, this hotel is great as it caters for all people - kids, couples, singles, older people, people in wheelchairs. The food is varied and there is something for everyone. I preferred the Nyamings restaurant (Jamaican Fusion) to the Jasmine Delta (Pan Asian), but that is just my taste. You may feel different.

Take a look at my pics and if you do decide to go, I hope you have a great time! We may be going again next year and have recommended the RDCC to our friends as a honeymoon destination.
