We stayed June 1st-8th, booking thru RCI timeshare. Me, my spouse and 2 children. First of all the rooms are ok...the king size bed in bedroom was plenty big, but my kids barely fit on the sleeper sofas. They clean your room 2x day...which is really nice. When we first entered the Mayan...the entrance and views were GORGEOUS...very Aztec-inspired. All the pools were awesome w/waterfalls, etc and a lot of fun if you like to swim or like water aerobics. The water park is kindof a rip off, unless you have small children, like under 6-7 yrs. The buffets are good, and kids can eat free (12 and under) with a paying adult, but food prices really add up there. Unfortunately, they only have a very small fridge in the rooms so keeping a week's worth of food in there is challenging. They don't allow you to take your own food and drinks out to the pools or the beach either. They have people watching for this. We did a lot of activities, like swimming with the dolphins at a nearby water park, watched the cliff divers, went snorkeling and did a historical tour of Old Acapulco. These activities were all fun, but just remember to budget the costs. For our family of four, we spent approx $200 per day to eat most meals onsite (eating snacks, drinking in our rooms) and entertainment/activities. It really adds up and this is not including the cost of our stay (which we had already paid thru RCI) or airfare. Overall it was worth it, but my spouse did get an intestinal virus for about 3 days, which he finally went to the doctor at the resort, who gave him 3 different meds. Nice guy...and we were glad that they keep a doctor onsite 24/7. Keep plenty of extra $$ or pesos around for tipping, because tipping is HUGE here. Last, but not least, our taxi driver for the week was Ruben and I highly recommend him or his brother, Adel (see previous reviews for more info). He was VERY FAIR and accomodating, charging us half of what other cabbies would have charged us. His car is clean and air conditioned, so I highly recommend asking for him to drive you around. He reminded us that ACAPULCO gets 80% of its income from the tourists, so that explained a lot.
