“my stay at The Mayan Palace”

Mayan Palace Acapulco

We just return from our stay at The Mayan Palace Acapulco. My mother and I had a lovely time. The hotel was in the perfect location. It was located on the beach and had a wonderful view of the ocean. The building we stayed in was in need of remodeling. There was construction going on and the aqua park for kids was closed. At the time of reservation none of this was mentioned. However we made the best of the situation. The friendly staff and our cab driver assisted in making our vacation one to remember. The staff of the Mayan Palace was wonderful. They catered to us like we were "VIP'S". Our taxi Driver HAPPYNESS #4065 was the best. He was so helpful and knowledgeable of the area. He was friendly, on time, and truly an asset to our vacation. His recommendations were really appreciated. I would definitely visit the Mayan Palace again once construction is done and everything is up and running properly.

“Mayan Palace is just OK in my book”

Mayan Palace Acapulco

I have to say our stay the Mayan Palace Acapulco was just OK. We were suppose to have a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo that was to sleep 8 but we ended up having a 2 one bedroom one bath units with two couches in each for one couple to sleep on. Basically what I'm saying is that they do not have pull out couch beds like we do here in the states. The staff came in every night and turned our 2 couches into 2 beds by putting sheets and pillows on them. Also avoid the food here. We ate on site twice, the first night and the last morning. One person in our group was sick all week with diahrrea and vomitting due to his meal the first night. It had to be the food b/c he only drank bottled water. After breakfast the last day, we boarded our plane and went home 3 out of 4 who ate breakfast had diahrrea for the whole week we were home. The rest of the time we ate out or cooked our own meals in the kitchenette, no oven but nice 2 burner stove in the rooms with a microwave. The Mayan Palace out side of the rooms and the food is great though. It is really beautiful the staff and the amenities get an A+ overall.
Our trip to Acapulco was great b/c we contacted Benjamin Alarcon b/f we went. I had heard of him and his brother Roberto from Trip Advisor and thought that we would contact them to pick us up from the airport. Just as promised Benjamin was waiting at the airport with a sign and a suburban ready to take us to the resort. We then had him give us tour of the city one day, and he also made dinner reservations at some great restaurants for us three nights and brought my wife flowers for her birthday. He arranged a private snorkeling trip and took us to a real Mexican Fiesta show where we hung out with locals all night and had a blast. Benjamin speaks perfect english and made us feel at home and safe all week. It was like having a personal guide for Acapulco. He offers many more day trips but we decided to lounge at the pool and play golf. He also took us to the MEGA, Walmart, so that we could shop for our food for the week. His suburban is clean and he is extremely friendly and knowledgable about the city. He truly made our trip a great one. Here is his information if you are interested in contacting him. Email worked perfectly.

Would I go back to the Mayan Palace. Probably, but I wouldn't eat their and I would try to stay in the Mayan Grand. I wouldn't think twice about contacting Benjamin though.

“It could have been better!!!”

Mayan Palace Acapulco

Our experience could have been much better... The place is very nice and clean however the palace rooms are old and have an uncomfortable smell with the view of construction... The staff in the restaurants and around the resort are more then nice but the front desk service is not so pleasant... This is weird due to the fact that they are the first people you come in contact with... We were supposed to get another room Monday, it never happened. We were promised another room in the palace and later were simply ignored... The price of food and beverage is way too high and simply unreasonable...

The town is about 20 minutes away and our drivers Alberto and Roberto were great... They are the two people that enhanced our experience in a very positive way... They have all the information one needs and were able to show us the city and all the attractions... There was no question that they couldn't answer and both of them are very fun to be with... Roberto Alarcon can be reached via e mail [--] or via cell phone from US [--].... My boyfriend and I recommend them because most importantly they are very safe and have great prices...

“The Good & The Bad”

Mayan Palace Acapulco

4 of 5 stars
San Diego

We stayed June 1st-8th, booking thru RCI timeshare. Me, my spouse and 2 children. First of all the rooms are ok...the king size bed in bedroom was plenty big, but my kids barely fit on the sleeper sofas. They clean your room 2x day...which is really nice. When we first entered the Mayan...the entrance and views were GORGEOUS...very Aztec-inspired. All the pools were awesome w/waterfalls, etc and a lot of fun if you like to swim or like water aerobics. The water park is kindof a rip off, unless you have small children, like under 6-7 yrs. The buffets are good, and kids can eat free (12 and under) with a paying adult, but food prices really add up there. Unfortunately, they only have a very small fridge in the rooms so keeping a week's worth of food in there is challenging. They don't allow you to take your own food and drinks out to the pools or the beach either. They have people watching for this. We did a lot of activities, like swimming with the dolphins at a nearby water park, watched the cliff divers, went snorkeling and did a historical tour of Old Acapulco. These activities were all fun, but just remember to budget the costs. For our family of four, we spent approx $200 per day to eat most meals onsite (eating snacks, drinking in our rooms) and entertainment/activities. It really adds up and this is not including the cost of our stay (which we had already paid thru RCI) or airfare. Overall it was worth it, but my spouse did get an intestinal virus for about 3 days, which he finally went to the doctor at the resort, who gave him 3 different meds. Nice guy...and we were glad that they keep a doctor onsite 24/7. Keep plenty of extra $$ or pesos around for tipping, because tipping is HUGE here. Last, but not least, our taxi driver for the week was Ruben and I highly recommend him or his brother, Adel (see previous reviews for more info). He was VERY FAIR and accomodating, charging us half of what other cabbies would have charged us. His car is clean and air conditioned, so I highly recommend asking for him to drive you around. He reminded us that ACAPULCO gets 80% of its income from the tourists, so that explained a lot.

“Pleasant friendly resort”

Mayan Palace Acapulco

My wife and I stayed at the Mayan Palace Resort for 1 week during the week of April 26. We liked the resort overall. The pools are cleaned and have plenty of lounge chairs. There is plenty of beach to enjoy. However, the water is not as clear as Cancun beaches. The cost of the food is moderate. The room is comfortable and clean. However, the TV could need a bit of updating. To avoid construction noise, request room number x45 to x59 which is on the opposite side of the construction site. The golf course is enjoyable for beginner but a bit overpriced as compare to the states.

While we were there we have a private driver, Angel Flores and his assistant Higinio Bravo, to drive us around town. His price is competitive as compare to group tour if you have 3 or more people. Both are courteous, professional and punctual. He took us on a city tour with hidden areas that the view from above looking down onto the bay is spectacular.
