My stay in Acapulco didn't start well--an upset stomach, general exhaustion and having to drag my luggage up a street being repaved and then landing at a rather ordinary doorway didn't bode well. But all that changed as I climbed the stairs and arrived in a beautifully landscaped tropical pool area surrounded by some comfortable places to lounge around both outside and inside the casa and on 2 different levels. A nap in a comfortable bed in a spacious air conditioned room,a welcome drink and a few hours lolling around the pool did wonders for me. I travel a lot and have been in Acapulco twice before. I usually tend not to spend too much time in the place where I stay. However, this time I found myself really wanting to hang around the casa. Each day started with a delicious breafast cooked especially for me--my choice of omelets, pancakes, pan dulce, fresh fruit salad--served when i wanted it. Then some lounging on a float in the pool. I never seemed to make it to the nearby beach before noon. After a hard afternoon at the beach, nothing beat another relaxing swim in the pool before dinner. Acapulco has plenty of good restaurants, but after being in Mexico for 3 weeks, the chance to have a homecooked meal seemed like a welcome change. And it was--so much so that I ate there every night. Roy,Casa Condesa's friendly and helpful manager, originally from Texas, knows his way around the kitchen , whipping up some American Southern specialities like smothered steak. You sure won't go hungry here and the price is a lot better than at most of the restaurants. And the nighttime ambiance of the Casa beats most restaurants hands down. What else did I like about Casa Condessa--everything ,but special praise goes to the attentive and caring staff ,including a masseur named Aldo, James, the sociable owner, who has decorated the casa in an eccletic and tasteful style and Roy,the manager, and his 3 lovable puppies, who make this place seem like a real home away from home.My 4 day stay flew by, but Casa Condesa will definitely be my choice next time I'm in Acapulco.
