“Good Physical Plant”

The Abbey Hotel

The physical plant is fine. After a little haggling, I did get an ocenview rom on the fifth floor, with a balcony. Overall the experience was good, yet impersonal. I received a massage from their "exclusiva" masseur, Omar, and his comments bordered on homophobic. I will never get an in-house massage at the Abbey again. I always went out for breakfast and happy hour since the Abbey "scene" left a lot to be desired (I would have been a scene of one most of the time).

Hello Mr. curiousyellow42:
I will mention to you, I like to know the real comments of our guest, with that just hepl us to improve our service and make sure that everyone is happy and taking care of!!!
You said that you had a problem getting your room with a ocean view!! I personally take care of the asigment of rooms, and that avoid getting a room that it was not promisse to you!!
I, also make sure that I meet all the costumers, and with that I do take care of them personally. everyone have what they want!!! whitin the power of the Hotel!!
As far for the situation with Omar, perhaps it was a misunderstanding, since he is gay and had being with us since we open, about two years ago, He is very friendly and acommodating to our guest that you may read the reviews, and his profesionallisim is his tool to have more business, we only look for the comfort and happiness of our customers and with that we only keep staff who make sure our clients are in that way!!
If you feel that he in ANYWAY, that he did mention comments bordered on homophobic, line, WE the hotel, appologize for it, and as I mention before perhaps it was a plain misundertanmding.
We hope we have again the oportunity to make sure you are well taking care, and you can stay with us!! AGAIN!!
Sincerelly
Luis Aillaud

The staff here was very friendly and accomidating. I was so close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The hotel was clean and the suites were very reasonably priced. My room had a stove, refrigerator, pots, pans and utensils which made me feel at home. My suite had 2 balconies with an awesome veiw of the ocean and the city! Very gay friendly...All in all, highly recommended.

“Awesome experience!”

Very nice, quaint gay hotel. Luis, the co-owner was very nice and helped to upgrade us to a room with better views. He would check with us daily to make sure everything was going ok with our stay. William, the cute front desk clerk went above and beyond to also make sure we were having fun and that we were confortable. He booked for us an all day, gay cruise to a beautiful, private beach two and a half hours south of PV. Very nice! There were some other gay guys from the hotel we met on the cruise and we all hung out together and became a big, happy family. We all hope to see each other back in PV next year over Memorial Day weekend. Gabby can pour a great cocktail at the bar! The rooms were always clean and comfortable with good AC.

“Great hotel, perfect location”

The Abbey Hotel

My partner and I just returned from a 7-day trip to PV and highly recommend The Abbey. The hotel cannot be beat for location, friendliness, and charm. Luis, the co-owner, treated us like family and even “chaperoned” us for the fabulous Wednesday evening ArtWalk (which runs through May). His warmth and charm were the icing on our vacation cake, making The Abbey a hotel to which we will definitely return. Note though that this is not the Ritz – It is a boutique-style hotel with all the charm but not necessarily the luxury. We stayed in room 704, a two-room suite with both mountain and ocean views. The room was clean although not spotless. The bed was on the firm side and could have used a pillowtop, but overall was acceptable. Some of the fixtures are fairly dated; overall, the room was comfortable and spacious. We had a little trouble regulating the air conditioning, but it wasn’t a big deal since we were there in early May, so we usually just opened the doors and windows and enjoyed the sea breezes and the sound of the nearby surf! Upon arriving at The Abbey, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff and will enjoy a complimentary cocktail mixed by Gabriella. We had margaritas that turned out to be the best we had all week. The bar is open-air and fronts the pool area. During our week at The Abbey there was not too much activity in the bar/pool area (except for the first few days when a gay tour group livened up the action quite a bit!). I think the reason for this lack of activity is that there is just so much to experience within walking distance: The beach, numerous bars and wonderful restaurants, etc. On either side of The Abbey are two great, small bars: Garbo and Kit Kat. We also had a delicious dinner at Café de Olles (ask Luis for directions). They had a mixed seafood and filet mignon special that is to die-for! Two whole lobsters, numerous jumbo shrimp (butterflied with a nice, light citrus and garlic sauce), and a twice baked potato with rice and veggies. Do check out La Palapa at the end of Pulpito, we had both breakfast and dinner there (beachside), and the views and food quality can’t be beat! Next door to that is El Dorado which is excellent as well. As well, we often opted to eat breakfast right at the hotel: Quite delicious. The avocados are mouth-watering and the orange juice is fresh squeezed! Get the fresh fruit with yogurt and you won't be disappointed! For activities, we did a canopy tour (zip lining) as well as the gay cruise through Diana’s tours, both a ton of fun and both booked easily through the front desk. Overall, if you are looking for a gay-centered hotel in the heart of the pulse of PV, with friendly staff who will truly treat you like family, this hotel is perfect.
