“Great College Spring Break”

NH Krystal Puerto Vallarta

May 21, 2008

Overall, this was an excellent hotel for a group of Spring Breakers. I went there in mid February and the weather was excellent. The hotel was undergoing renovations at the time and we had front row seats to watch it from our room. It never actually bothered us at all because the only time we were in our room, we were sleeping. The rooms I thought were very nice, big open showers, and very accommodating. For the most part, the people who worked there were all pretty friendly.
When it came time to party during the day, this was one of the aspects of the hotel that could have been improved upon for a couple reasons. First and foremost, the drinks were hard to come by without a tip and when they did arrive, they were watered down. Your best bet was to give them 50 pesos first and then order a bunch of drinks....and then tell them they are not strong enough. Again, I was on a spring break trip so most people I was with were being obnoxious so maybe they were not giving us the service they would have to a tranquil young couple.
The view from the hotel was incredible. The beach was extrememly nice, and up close and personal. The beach vendors could be a little annoying, but a simply NO did the trick. They usually left you alone after that
The FOOD!! The food was not the best at this resort. Most of the time I got anything I ordered chips and Guac on the side in case. Try ordering on the beach bar, I thought the food was more appetizing there.
While I was there, I went on one excursion, and I would recommend it to ANYONE GOING. We went on a canopy tour which was a full day and it was incredible. We took a cab to arrive at the place where the bus departed (cab included) and then we drove about an hour to the middle of the jungle. The canopy tour was a blast, and all the people working there were EXTREMELY friendly (we even met some out at a bar later that week). After the tour, there was an area to swim and play with monkeys and even snakes. I went with a group of 13! i think and everyone loved it.
Overall I really enjoyed out stay at this resort and would go back for the right price...I paid $1200 for a week and air fare to give you an idea!

“Better than reviews said!”

NH Krystal Puerto Vallarta

We stayed at the Krystal through an RCI trade. After reading the other reviews, I was very nervous.
1. Construction. Yes there is construction. The ecomony in PV is BOOMING. It is changing quickly down there, and if we are in a recession, I don't see much indication of it in PV. And Americans and Canadians are the driving forces.
2. Privacy. The room we got assigned to first was right on the road, but the road is not open to cars, only electric golf carts. We asked for a more private room, and the hotel gave us what we asked for.
3. Employees. The Krystal is an older hotel, and many of the employees have worked there for many years. They are happy with their jobs, and it is reflected in how they treat their guests. I would especially like to acknowledge the front desk, bell boys, and maid service.
4. Cleanliness. The rooms were VERY CLEAN. Yes there is some parts of the hotel that are in need of grout, etc. But all of the areas were very clean, just needing some maintenace.
5. Location. The Krystal is a $5-7 cab ride to PV. Also, a very big grocery store is within walking distance. The beach is nice, sandy (which is not always the case in PV)
6. Vendors. Yes they are on the beach. But you could use them to practice your Spanish, or they make great people watching. They are much more annoying in downtown PV (next to La Palapa restuarant area).
7. Food. Definate down side. We ate there for three meals. All three meals were BAD. I would NOT do an all inclusive at this hotel.
8. Food Service Employees. Not prompt, but this is Mexico, so keep that in mind. It helps to slow down. We found that if we treat people with respect, it will get returned (just not as quickly as in the States). This fact got easier to handle as the week went on and WE were less stressed.
9. Massages. My husband and I received the best massages that we have ever had at this Hotel. It is an outside area (but private). We got two 75-minute massages for $70. (that is for BOTH). WOW.

this was our honeymoon, we came as aguest from my dad who let us use his time share for a week. we had a villa with a studio open and had a pool in the back yard.the people on the property were as friendly as could be. the food was great and the bar drinks were great as well. one highlite at the facility was the massages my wife and I had. my wife has had dozens of messages all over the states but said by far the ladies at the Krystal gave the best message she has ever had. We would defenitly go back to this paradise again.

This was my first time in Mexico. I had an amazing time down here staying at the krystal. I would recommend this hotel to either younger people or spring breakers. I went over spring break and there were many college kids, which is the main reason why it was a good idea to recommed that age level. There was construction going on, but it really didn't bother me. We got a villa which was very nice and always clean. The shower would smell from the sewer but we got over it. All the employees were veryy nice and welcoming.

“NOT GREAT”

NH Krystal Puerto Vallarta

Ok well what do I say about this resort. It is boring and old. They tell you that it has ala carte....NOT. You can ask for a coupon to a few restaurants down town but when you produce the coupon you are told you can order from a choice of 6 things and that it is take out...a joke. The buffet is second rate.....breakfast was ok. The beach burgers were good(if you were willing to wait an hour or so for one of the old dinasour waiters to take your order)
The service is very crappy...the waiters at the beach are old as the beach itself i'm sure and are very rude! you would think it was their personal vodka they were serving.
The mix between all inclusive and not is a real pain as you have to sign a ticket for everything you get even a bottle of water.
There is no entertainment and no lounge type area to meet friends for a drink. It is a boring resort.
Our room was ok but I heard from alot of other travellers that there was black mold and bugs.
Spring breakers wre aloud to do anything they wanted and I was happy I never had any small kids with me and felt for the families who did.
Beach peddlers are pushy but you can get what ever you want for the price you want if you stick with it.
