It's the Four Seasons. Naturally (and rightfully) you expect top-of-the-line, nothing-but-the-best. So when we arrived, I was bubbling with anticipation (this was my first stay at a Four Seasons). The lobby wasn't mind-blowing, but the front desk service was exceptional. I overlooked the average-looking lobby, assuming the rooms would be a wonder. You can probably guess why I am building this up so much -- they were incredibly underwhelming. I'm not one to pick -- when not on a business expense tab, I am rather frugal -- so when I get to stay at such prestigious establishments, it really is a treat for me. But not this time. The room was quite small. The furniture, drapery and carpet were very dated, and the amenities less than what I would have expected. What a disappointment. The best part of the room was the bathroom -- it wasn't big, but it was really nice. And there were L'Occitane products, which always makes me happy. At best, I would call this experience average, and that is only because the room service, concierge, valet and front desk service were absolutely phenomenal. Unless you're getting a ridiculously good rate (like a corporate rate of $170 / night), take your $$$ and spend it at a better establishment. Or go to a lower priced establishment and buy the L'Occitane products with your savings!!
