Montreal is a great city and this is a really great hotel in the "Old Port". The hotel was really nice and the breakfast (included with the cost of the room) was soooo amazingly good! Have the french toast! In fact, the breakfast and the location of the hotel were my favorite parts. It's a 3 course breakfast consisting of fruit or yogurt first, then toast or croissant and finally your breakfast entree. As I already said, the french toast is the best I've ever had (and I'm not a french toast fan).
The old port is NOT in the center of the city, but it's just a short walk and metro ride away. The streets, churches and cobble stone streets of the old port were so beautiful and we loved going for walks every day even though we'd seen everything a ton of times.
The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful and polite. I personally found the female staffers much warmer and the male staffer a bit cold, but still very polite.
The only thing that wasn't too great about this hotel was that there are a few popular bars next to the hotel (double edged sword!) and on weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) it can get pretty loud. Approximately from 11 to 3am you will hear very loud bar patrons walking the streets. One night I was continuously awakened by what sounded like a metal dumpster being pushed (without wheels) down the street, making this awful high pitched screeching. This noise was bad, but not the fault of the hotel.
*Restaurant suggestion - Holder, a steak house. Try the butterscotch dessert!
