Stayed at the Arlington for a long weekend in a large group. You have to think of the Arlington as an extremely large pub with a lot of hotel rooms, then you will see that the place is all about.
The bar is one of the largest I have ever seen and i don't think it has changed in the last 5 years at least. Lots of seating and a stage where they have traditional irish dancing. An area at the top where they serve traditional food, steak pie, etc..... It gets very busy and at 11.30pm, the music stops and the club in the basement opens. It is not glamorous by any means. This stays open until 4am. If you're a resident, entry is free. Food is good.
Lobby, suits of armour, etc..., the hotel pictures are accurate.
Rooms, these are a real surprise, they are clean and well maintained. Water pressure was low in the shower, and the TV wasn't tuned properly, but considering the location, I was not surprised. If you have a room near the lift, I would ask to be moved as there are vending machines for soft drinks and people use them all night.
Location, with it being on the opposite side of the river from the Temple Bar area, it is close by.
If you're a large group or a couple wanting a lively atmosphere, you can't go wrong with the Arlington. If you want a romantic weekend, have kids with you or on business, go elsewhere, as you will hate it.
