“Got Engaged at Sagewater”

Sagewater Spa

5 of 5 stars
Boston, MA
May 12, 2008

This was our second year in a row staying at the Sagewater--all the way from Boston! The first night we were there, we got engaged! For us, the Sagewater Spa will always be a very special place. We love it so much that we will definitely be back again and again. We cannot say enough good things about the friendliness of Cris and Rhoni or the beautiful, laid-back atmosphere.

“A cool getaway”

Sagewater Spa

5 of 5 stars
Long Beach
May 5, 2008

Sagewater is a secluded oasis in the desert, a hip getaway from Los Angeles and whatever else you have going on. The term spa overstates things somewhat, as the property itself is quite minimalist...there are no dedicated spa facilities, for example, so massage treatments are done in your room. However, it is this spartan style and stripped down personality that gives this place it's charm and makes it truly different from larger spa-hotels. This is the place to come if you want avoid the people and complexities you find at other places. Here, the clean arcitecture, simple furnishings, amazing hot spring water in the pools, and the warm desert sun lay the foundation of the experience for your stay, the rest is up to you. The hosts are genuinely warm and personable people, which also makes this place unique from most anywhere else. Come here for a truly quiet and relaxing stay and lots of time in the water.

“Wonderful respite from the world”

Sagewater Spa

5 of 5 stars
Chicago, Illiniois
May 3, 2008

I recently stayed at Sagewater Spa and had a very relaxing and peaceful stay. Sagewater remains a respite from the busy world, and you really feel like you are away from it all. Cris, Rhoni and Sage are the perfect hostesses, and made me feel at home for my visit. Highly recommended for those seeking a rejuvinating vacation.

“Great little relaxing getaway!”

Sagewater Spa

Apr 21, 2008

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday recently and we had a relaxing, laid-back time: the mineral pool was extremely calming, the service was great (the two women who run the place are very attentive), and the coffee cake they give you when you get there is delicious.

They've also got a very friendly pootch there, and the small, cozy atmostphere (7 rooms) really lended to a nice, communial feeling. It's easy to schmooze with other guests by the pool, but if you want to be left alone, no one will bother you.

So if you enjoy sitting in a hot springs pool, petting a cute dog and reading a book, you'll be in for a good time. We had so much fun, that we stayed an extra day.

Also, it's pretty affordable, especially because you feel like you're getting good service for the price. Sure, there's no cleaning staff (though you can pay for one if you want it), but that's not a big deal.

Suggestions if you are going: If you feel like doing something nice for your significant other, I would suggest asking them to get you some champagne and local toffee (so tasty!).

Buy some meat for the grill, because you'll probably want to stay in and relax.

The local casino is pretty lame (Caliente something or other), so it might be worth going out a few minutes more to find something nicer. I hear Morongo is better.

It's a little over an hour to get to Joshua Tree (the entrance is only about 40 minutes away, but you need to drive another 20 minutes to get to a nice place to hike), so plan accordingly.

The only problem I could think of is that my internet was a little wonky; but that's because I think we were too far away from the router. The wireless worked when we left our room.

“The Sagewater”

Sagewater Spa

5 of 5 stars
Surprise, AZ
Apr 20, 2008

After seeing the reviews in TripAdvisor and comparison shopping we booked at the Sagewater Spa. Although it differed slightly from what we had in mind, it was as advertised and really quite wonderful. The pool and spa are totally relaxing. The massage was great, as was the trip over to Joshua Tree Park.
The gals will recommend restaurants and make reservations, give you a heavenly cake loaf filled with gooey cinnamon on your arrival, and even let you give little Sage shnauzer a kiss if you are missing your own critters. We had a great time.
