My daughter and I have just returned from a 4 night break in Dublin. We chose the Tallaght Cross Hotel because it was such good value - about £35 a night with expedia. The hotel is 35 - 45 minutes out of town (depending on traffic) , at the end of the Luas red line, but that was the only drawback. We bought 7 day Luas and bus tickets at €26 each - the aircoach alone is €12 return so the combined pass was very good value). The hotel was clean, fresh, modern, had free internet access, incredibly friendly and helpful staff and a good meal deal in the restaurant too (€69 for 3 courses, including a bottle of wine). We had trouble finding the ice machine (apparently it was broken) so the restaurant manager took us off to the (closed) restaurant to supply us with a bucketful. On another occasion we needed to send an 11 page fax back to the UK - no charge, and the receipted fax was delivered back to our room within minutes of having been sent. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel; there is a Marks and Spencers 2 minutes away, complete with cafe and food hall. We went to the multiplex cinema one evening (5 minutes walk away) and ate at Captain Americas on two occasions (about 3 minutes away). My daughter is a student, so their drinks were half-price on the Wednesday night, which is student night. There was some hilarious karaoke afterwards (not that we got involved, but it WAS entertaining). All in all, I would recommend the hotel to anyone who is willing to make the journey to and from the city centre.
