“Excellent Hotel”

Hyatt Harborside at Logan International Airport

Jun 14, 2008

I'm from the Boston area and know that this hotel has a great reputation. I needed to be at the airport at 5:30 am, so I decided to priceline my way to a room at the Hyatt Harborside. I used a well known website that helps people figure out what hotels priceline offer, in what area, and for how much. Anyway... I checked in very quickly and efficently. The view of intown from across the harbor is just amazing from the lobby! The lobby echos as well, just an odd side note. I asked for a rather odd request, I wanted the a great view of the airport to watch the planes come in. Usually they get harbor view requests, but being a Boston native, I'd seen and sailed it enough. We got a room on the 10th floor that overlooked the cargo terminal, some runways, and Terminal B. It was great! The elevator was pretty with again great views of the city as you escalated up! Liked previously said, I could not hear an airplane but the real "traffic" was outside in the hallway! You could hear everything from outside that door! Not a big deal but those tripadvisors were correct! The first thing I did was to go swimming in the pool! The view was amazing from the pool as well. They had towels, cold water, cold towels, and apples in the gym beside the pool. They had plenty of quality towels poolside. The pool was indoors and could be noisy with kids! BUT! The pool water was saline (a bit of salt and fresh water)! It was great on my skin! It felt so good, that I didn't take a shower after! I felt nice and clean getting out of the pool! The pool was the right temperature and clean! I took the local water taxi into for 10 bucks and had a great meal at Boston favorite Legal Seafood. Ironically, I had filet mignon at a great seafood place! Anyway, I took the water taxi back and spent the night watching planes come in. It was wonderful! The room itself was very clean, modern, and comfortable. The wake up call for my early fight was arranged by the front desk and I was on my way using the shuttle which was very prompt. Overall, an excellent stay at the Hyatt! I would highly recommend using this hotel even if you're just staying intown. I love the view of the city and airport, plus it's just fun to use a water taxi! I paid $115 using priceline for a Friday in early June! Again, I highly recommend it!

“Very nice but be prepared to pay for almost everything”

Hyatt Harborside at Logan International Airport

4 of 5 stars
South Florida

I booked this hotel from its website and secured a AAA discount rate of $120/night that included the buffet breakfast for two for three nights. Check-in was quick and easy. Every staff member encountered was pleasant and helpful.

The pros of the hotel are the view, the staff, and the cleanliness.

The cons are the outrageous prices they charge for some services and the fact that a charge exists for other services. For example, parking overnight for guests is $32, and prices at the restaurant are unreal - if I remember correctly $16 for a plate of pancakes??? A glass of house wine $9. Internet access is not free. The cost is $9.95 /day or if using the hotel business center $ .50 a minute. Dialing 800 numbers has a fee as well. The hotel is isolated which doesn't help.

The harbor side view rooms (odd numbered) are nice. I stayed on the 14th floor and had a great view. The room was clean, smelled good, and was a pretty nice size. I agree with another reviewer that you can clearly hear doors slamming and people talking in the hall. Housekeeping knocked on the door sometimes during the 8AM hour which seemed a little early. USA Today is delivered at the door and other papers can be purchased from the hotel store. I did not see the WSJ.

The breakfast buffet is nice and includes eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereals, fruits, pastries, and juices as well as made to order omelets and Belgium waffles.

Overall, I recommend this hotel and the staff strives to make your stay enjoyable. Just remember that a fee is associated with most amenities except for the shuttle.

“One Night Works”

Hyatt Harborside at Logan International Airport

Overall: The bed was nice, the staff were responsive and helpful, and the hotel has all of the amenities we have come to expect from a Hyatt.

This is an Airport Hotel, but it isn't attached to the airport, don't be confused. First and foremost, if you are looking for a nice place to stay that is conveniently located extremely close to Logan then this is a good choice. This was our intention and it met that need. That being said, the guest services staff and the shuttle staff work extremely hard and are knowledgeable and helpful.

There is only one shuttle to my knowledge and this can produce some delays with guests moving between two main areas (the T or subway and the airport). They were always available within 15-20 minutes and good planning makes this a tolerable delay, taxis are there for those that can't wait.

The guest services staff provided us with more than enough information to make the trip across the Harbor to Boston for an evening and morning of Boston experiences. There are two options to get downtown and neither require a car from this hotel. Option 1: The "T" is currently $2 one-way from the airport terminal to downtown. The shuttle from the airport to the "T" is free as is the hotel shuttle. Option 2: The water taxis are directly behind the hotel on the harbor. This is $10 one-way and $17 r/t per person. Both options are pretty convenient and despite the Airport Hotel designation the city is easily within reach.

This is not a quiet and serene hotel (not that we expected it to be given the location). The runways are within 150 yards of the hotel and can be heard in the rooms. Efforts have obviously been made with special windows to reduce the noise. The worst part though was the noise of the room doors slamming in the hallway throughout the night for late arrivals or early departures. It was like living with a house full of angry door-slamming teenagers. It was loud enough to wake me up multiple times throughout the night and had we stayed more than one night I can imagine that it would have been pretty annoying. If the hotel would address this problem with the same attention placed on the windows, it probably wouldn't be a problem.

All of this being said, we were only staying here to catch a flight back home after being in Maine and it provided easy enough access to the city and the airport to make it worth the money and it allowed us to drop off the rental car a day earlier.

“Great Airport Hotel”

Hyatt Harborside at Logan International Airport

5 of 5 stars
Tucson, Arizona
Apr 28, 2008

We enjoyed our stay at this Hyatt. My husband was attending a conference so I tagged along.

The rooms are clean, beds comfy and great shower pressure in the bathroom. Our room on the 9th floor faced west with a gorgeous view of Boston harbor. The room was very quiet being so close to the airport also.

The only downside is that this hotel is located in an area that is a little isolated. There aren't any restaurants or food places within walking distance, so the only option is the Hyatt resaturant. The prices are high as expected at a hotel restaurant-breakfast was $18 for eggs and toast.

The positives-the hotel will take you to the "T" anytime to catch the subway to the city of Boston. It's easy and cheap. Buy a "Charlie Day Pass" and enjoy walking Boston.

The staff is wonderful. Any concerns or questions are immediately addressed.

Great hotel, would stay here again!
