ServiceThis hotel has many good qualities however there are a few things that you have to watch out for! On a positive note - the hotel was very clean and was in a spectacular location. Very convenient to everything you would need to be close to Harrahs, Bourbon Street, Canal Street - and at a very reasonable rate. While we were very pleased with the rate as well as the cleanliness and the location there were 2 things that were just unacceptable. I had read another review where someone checked in and they had the wrong rate - well luckily I read this on here and printed out the reservations w/ the confirmed rate b/c upon check in I was give a rate that was $60 more per night than the original quote. I had to produce the confirmation or I would have been charged the additional $60 per night so please be careful if you are staying at this hotel. I was told upon check in that they had problems with the website not confirming rates but from the looks of the reviews this is just a practice this hotel has - and they try to get you to initial by the rate upon check - in so if you catch it later - too bad you've agreed to the rate so please proceed with caution upon check-in.
The only other negative thing we had was the breakfast. If you go in and expect the breakfast advertised please note you will be disappointed. They did offer all of the things on listed on their website however they fill it up in the morning and when its gone - its gone. We went to breakfast at 9AM and they were out of all juices, eggs, sausage, milk, waffles - this might not seem like a lot but it was all they had other than muffins and toast- when you ask for refills the breakfast hostess gets really upset and goes at a snails pace and gives you dirty looks (she likes to sit in the back room and talk with her co-workers) - if this was just a one day thing it would be more understandable but it was every day that we were there so we eventually just gave up on breakfast as we knew we would be disappointed and frustrated from having to wait so long on items. We asked for more juice (again all juice and milk was empty) - waited for 20 minutes - it never came so we just gave up and went and bought our own breakfast.
Overall the hotel is fine and like I said in a great location and clean just be extra cautious of your confirmed rate at check-in, make sure to take your confirmed rate with you and do not plan on having the complimentary breakfast each morning that the hotel promises as you will be heavily let down.

Business serviceConfirm your room rate before you physically go to the hotel. I booked my room online, many months in advance, at the www.lq.com website. When I arrived at the hotel with a paper copy of my reservation in hand, the New Orleans staff and manager claimed that my rate would be 50-75 dollars higher per night. The manager would not even look at my paper confirmation which clearly showed my room rate. Be sure and take your complete paper confirmation with you. If they pull this on you, immediately contact via phone their La Quinta 800 number. The 800 number representative is very helpful and I got the rate I had booked. Stay on the line with the 800 rep. while you check in. In my situation they agreed to the rate while talking to the 800 rep., but once they hung up, they, the New Orleans staff, tried to give me a newer rate which was still higher than my confirmed rate. Do not settle for the higher rate!!!!
My husband and I stayed at La Quinta hotel in downtown New Orleans while he was in the city for a conference. We chose the hotel because of other reviews we had seen on TripAdvisor, and were not disappointed. The location was perfect, the hotel was very nice, and the rooms were spacious. We had the chance to check out a room over at the Sheraton (his conference was being held at the Marriott and Sheraton, which were right down the street from La Quinta), and I have to say we were very happy we chose the hotel we did. Our room was at least twice as big as the room we saw at the Sheraton, and for quite a bit less per night (we got our King Room for $105 per night through the La Quinta website).
Pros: LOCATION; spacious rooms; pleasant staff; really comfortable beds and bedding.
Cons: Valet parking is $22 per day...however, every hotel we saw cost at least that much (no free parking at any of the downtown hotels); no pool; no restaurant or room service.
Neutrals: Breakfast was ok--not great, but not bad. They had a waffle maker, which is always fun if you're not in a hurry.
Overall, the hotel was great for the price we paid, even when you add on the cost for parking each day. We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we go to New Orleans again.

Business serviceI stayed for 6 nights and the room was only cleaned 3 of those, and that was only after asking for them to clean it. I had to call down 2 nights to get fresh towels for the next morning since it was never cleaned, the bed never made, and trash never emptied. I personally would not stay in this hotel again. I also was not the only one with a problem. I saw another room who put their dirty towels out in the hallway, and a friend that checked in and had to change their room 2 times because it was not cleaned when they sent him up to it. The only bonus is the location to the French Quarter, Bourbon St, and the river.
