I booked the room quite some time ago online via the hotel's website. Since I booked online I got 50% off parking. What would have been $15/daily parking was offered to me at $7.50. That was quite a deal because hotels all around us were offering parking for $15-$25. When we got to the hotel, we found out that self-park was not available and it was all valet parking. $7.50 per day was a steal!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Upon our check in, I thought it was a little odd when they asked that all parties staying at the hotel each show a picture ID. Other hotels need only one ID out of their group but since It was part of the Waikiki Sand Villa's security policy, I didn't mind complying. The hospitality room had up-to-date computers, fast connection, and a copier/fax machine.
We were placed in a room overlooking Diamond Head. According to the hotel's room map, we were in a deluxe room. The room was just okay. The beds in the room were a double and a single bed and they were comfortable. The air conditioner was not functioning properly. Since the air conditioner wasn't generating enough cold air to cool the room, we opted to sleep with the sliding door open. In the middle of the night and the early morning hours, we were woken by loud music or shouts from the street below. The carpet was just absolutely filthy and needed to be replaced like three years ago.
In my book this property is considered a low-budget hotel. The pros outweight the cons and if you don't mind a filthy carpet and being only a 5-minute walk to the beach, then you should consider staying at this hotel.
