Markets are where you will do your shopping in Agua Caliente whilst you wait for the train or are stalling the hike back to Cusco. Bring your bargaining skills, as haggling is expected. Most market booths are located near to the railroad tracks are along the Urubamba.

Given its location to the ruins and the number of tourists that pile through the town on a daily basis, regardless of your bargaining skills, you will still likely pay more for souvenirs in Agua Caliente than you would in less touristy towns.

When choosing the perfect Peruvian souvenir, some items to look for include:

  • handwoven Andean textiles, such as wall-hangings or rugs
  • Alpaca sweaters or scarves
  • ponchos
  • handcrafts
