Venezuela is a tropical country with two very well defined seasons. Rainy season from May-October. Dry season from November-April. Venezuela could be visited year round but there are some times better than others depending on what you want to do:
  • Wildlife viewing: is better during the dry season as animals tend to hide when it's raining. March in particular is consider the best time to go to Los Llanos because all the wildlife concentrates in the little water left in the rivers and lagoons.
  • Angel Falls : is better towards the end of the rainy season because is running stronger and looks more impressive. Some times during dry season, the water level in the river is so low that canoes can't navigate.
  • Trekking and Mountain Climbing: is better during the dry season because during rainy season trails tend to be slippery and weather gets unbearably hot and humid.
  • Beaches: while is rare to get rained in along the coast, the waters do get a bit rough. However, Los Roques and La Tortuga get very little rain. Venezuela is out of the hurricane belt.
