San Diego is home to several world famous dinner clubs. The 30's and 40's were the golden age of dinner clubs. Elegant ladies and tough guys enjoyed good food and great music. Several local clubs have hearkened back to these days.
Croces is dedicated to good food and the memory of Jim Croce. The restaurant started as an idea in 1973. Years later his wife, Irene, opened the club in his honor.
Anthology SD Dinner Club bills top food and top acts year round. The restaurant opened in June 07 and has since booked Arturo Sandoval, Herb Alpert, and other greats. Wynton Marsalis heard about the great acoustics and atmosphere and changed his tour plans to play at the club.
Of course, big name players Hard Rock Cafe and House of Blues bring acts big and small to town. And other bars like The Strip Club have live music. But you wouldn't want to be wearing a nice suit to either of these places. On the other hand, a nice supper club invites class, charm, and comfortable surroundings for those concert goers not wearing safety pins on their faces.
